I'll give you Archie. But we paid less in terms of salary and signing bonuses for BOTH Carter and Lloyd than you did for Clements. Carter looked really impressive down the stretch and Lloyd is a big question mark.
And, I'm not talking about you Rexi, but I'm tried of hearing how the Redskins overaid this guy or that guy from some idiot on the TV who doesn't know squat. The Redskins developed a reputation for overpaying players after 2000, justifiably so. However, since 2000 our FA "spending sprees" have not been nearly as bad as people make them out to be. In fact, the only big signings I can I regret in the past few years are for (1) Jeremiah Trotter and (2) Adam Archuleta. Yet these morons in the press keep saying how we overpaid for this player of that player. Some examples:
(1) We were told that we overpaid for Laveraneus Coles ($13M SB) when NO ONE criticized the Falcons for giving basically the same deal to Peerless Price. Coles went to the Pro Bowl and eventually was traded for Santana Moss. Where is Peerless now?
(2) We were told that we overpaid for Randy Thomas ($7M SB). The deal doesn't look so bad when you consider what guards, just a few years later, are getting paid and that Thomas is one of the best guards in the league.
(3) We were told we overpaid for Cornelius Griffin ($8M SB), who was allegedly an underachieving washout from NY. Griffin has turned out to be one of the best players on our defense.
(4) We were told that we overpaid for Marcus Washington ($8M SB), who also turned out to be a Pro Bowler and one of the best OLBs in the league.
I could go on and on with such examples.
