I think it's likely the truth. Springs has no reason to resist a basic restructure. He gets a lumpsum payment in the form of signing bonus now, rather than waiting until the season to collect game checks.

The team has repeatedly hinted that he could have a role on the team as a safety. So that makes me believe he is certainly in Gibbs' and Williams' plans for next season.

I see no reason why this wouldn't be true, just like I see no reason to put any stock in that stupid little blurb that Jason LaCanfora put on his blog saying Springs' situation could get sticky.

More writers should be required to understand the salary cap. All you have to do is look at the cap situation, and you can EASILY figure out what a team will do with most players. With Springs, it's a no brainer. Simple restructure, and keep him in the fold.
