Wordplays on pop culture buzzwords just isn't that funny - sounds like something senior citizens would get a kick out of:

I've been uplinked and downloaded, I've been inputted and outsourced, I know the upside of downsizing, I know the downside of upgrading."

I think people either love him or hate him. The majority of his comedy has to do with language and how it's used. I think his mother was a lingustics professor or something like that and that's where he got it from.
You also have to realize that he's been doing this for 30+ years, so he's been copied so many times that now he actually seems unoriginal.
