Two things wrong with those sentiments.
  1. The numbers don't add up in an expanded salary cap era. So Patton has a base of $1.035 million. So what? The cap is right about nine digits.
  2. He has the most and best experience in a spread offense. If it isn't going to hurt the team financially to keep him (and it isn't - they'd save less than a million because of accelerated bonuses) they would be downgrading significantly in actual WR experience and skill by jettisonning Patten, presuming Jacobs or Thrash would be regularly filling his role.

And that, good friends, is why I hate people.
I wonder why we are all so stunned when these national "experts" offer their two cents worth on issues they honestly know about 1/20th that we fans do. We follow the team and are so in tune with what is going that their hollow arguments are Patten(ly) obvious to us. Brud is right. It makes little sense to jettison Patten for all he said.

Oh. I hate people too.
