Re: Yet Another Duplicate Thread About The Salary Cap...Again
I find it humorous that fans of other teams like the Jacksonville Jaguars are obsessing about how the CBA negotiations will affect the Redskins. If they are worried about "rich owners" they should mention the guy in Seattle because he could by every owner in the league several times over. If there is an uncapped year in 2007 he could assemble a team of superstars that would be unbelievable. It makes me wonder why they single out Snyder instead of Allen. Perhaps there are some ethnic stereotypes at work.
I also find it humorous that the Jags guy accused Snyder of spending irresponsibly. What the hell does that mean? Its his money. He should spend it the way he sees fit. Maybe they're sore because we made the final eight with Mark Brunell, who they no longer wanted, and they got crushed by the Patriots with Garrard and Leftwich. Is he implying that there is some sort of unwritten agreement among the owners regarding salaries; a wink and nod system designed to keep payrolls in line. The word for that is collusion and I for one am glad that Mr. Snyder refuses to take part in their shabby game.
On another note, I suspect the sticking point on revenue sharing has to do with luxury suite revenues. Those are not currently shared. FEDex Field was designed to maximize this income and if the owners move to include this in revenue sharing, our Redskins are going to take a mighty hit. I think it could be an eight figure hit each and every year. When you consider the stakes, its not that clear that Snyder would simply go along to get along. The only thing that prevents him from digging in his heels is the fact that the Skins seem to be on the upswing and he would not want to wreck that.
BTW, I checked and there is no Juggers.com. What a rip-off.
