BUCHA/LVIV, Ukraine (Reuters) - Moscow signalled on Friday it was scaling back its ambitions in Ukraine to focus on territory claimed by Russian-backed separatists as Ukrainian forces went on the offensive, recapturing towns on the outskirts of the capital Kyiv.
In the first big sign that Western sanctions on Russia were impacting investment from China, sources told Reuters state-run Sinopec Group, Asia's biggest oil refiner, had suspended talks on a petrochemical investment and a venture to market Russian gas.

Who knows if this is real .... and maybe im reading way to much into it but
is russia now scaling back their objective? They arent trying to replace Zelensky or take over Kyiv but withdraw to solidify the Donbass region then keep Ukraine in a forever conflict zone?
its better than them flattening Kyiv .. but sounds like it could be a proxy guerrilla war for years
Anytime Russia wants something it can flare up invasion threats much like North Korea has to throw a tantrum to get "concessions"
Id guess Putin will use this to try and ease sanctions but fuck them.
if they lift sanctions in months or years .. what the fuck is the point?
