Russia became a more significant source of oil for the U.S. after the U.S. placed economic sanctions on Venezuela in 2019. In the absence of oil from Venezuela, U.S. oil companies turned to Russia for supplies.
But let’s ignore that, and everything else that Trump has done for Russia, because you know fake news, witch hunt, dems are commies (while the extreme right chants Putin at white nationalist meetings.)

Sanctions on Venezuela did contribute to increased reliance on Russian exports but the sanctions (on Venezuela) were and are the correct action to take. So not going to knock Trump on that (Besides do you really think that that was the dimwit's idea?). However, Bidens domestic energy policies in 2021 led to a decline of 1.2mil barrels per day of US production and deserves criticism for also contributing to the problem.
