The logo and the "fan connect" terms are more important than the actual name because they create that visual and emotional bond to the team. "Go Team" isn't as powerful as "go pack go".
Likewise a cluttered logo (like the San Antonio one) doesn't build that deep link, to many strings pulled at once without a real focal point.
