Agreed. Weirdly enough I think both can be true:
-they want to create
expectations and anticipation about the new name so when it's released it's talked about.
-they are consciously making it last longer than needed, so people get
tired of it and even the most adamant anti-name change and those who had a strong preference different than their final choice go "meh, at least we finally have a new name and can move on" and
accept it (to various degrees and after various amounts of time).
