Re: Chase Young or Three First Round Picks?

We are committed to Haskins. His last two games were amazing for a rookie with just 6-7 games experience, a creaky OL, no TE worth a wooden nickle, 3 rookie WR. The offense, especially the OL was undisciplined and committed A LOT of penalties. The offense was wedded to a archaic running system that mostly failed and with the many penalties both which often forced him into “third and long” situations. His second to last game he had a 120 QB rating. In his last game he had a 141 rating before he was hurt.

He played hurt without complaint which showed his toughness. He can run more than was thought when we drafted him and he isn’t afraid to take a hit to get a first down. I think with the MANY new improvements such as in the OL, adding some quality TEs, a better Offensive Coordinator, this offense will help Haskins in many ways. Will he still make rookie mistakes? Sure, but he will get better. Then we’ll see how high he can go.

I remember at the beginning of the season there were many proponents for a “sit out the season or more”. After a few tough games many said he was a TOTAL BUST. Some still advocate getting Tua or somebody else and trading Haskins. Take Burrows if the Bengals draft Chase Young. They forget that Haskins BEAT Burrows at Ohio. So the doubters continue.

When you use a high first round draft pick for a Qb you have to give him some time to prove whether he is a franchise QB or a bust. Otherwise you are just spinning your wheels. When was the last time the Redskins had a franchise QB from the draft?
Cousins - who we let go. Before him the draft failures of RG3, Campbell and Shuler, who were busts. Let’s hope Haskins is our next franchise QB and has the high end that the team thought when they drafted him. We saw glimpses of it in this last season.
