Re: Antonio Pierce

Pierce was a great leader on the field last year for us. There is not that much loyalty in the game anymore when it comes to players and their contracts. They take the money and run. Hopefully Gibbs can create the same atmosphere that the Pats have in recent years. It is refreshing to hear a player take less money to stay with a team for the right reasons, than leave for all the wrong reasons. Smoot left for money too. I bet he wishes he was still in washington with the way the Vikings are playing. I believe the Redskins had plans in place that would allow for those two players to leave. They knew how much they could offer that would not hamper the future in terms of cap reasons. Especially when you have LaVar on the bench, and Marshall playing as well as he did last year. I think they will have a plan next year too, with McCume. He is on our practice squad right now, but this guy once he gets to know the system will be a pretty good LB. He is like 26 years old, and was in the Marines or something like that. He is a big guy, like LaVar and is faster than LaVar. Watch out for this guy this year, maybe even late in the year if we have an injury.
