I love Gruden but it seems exponentially harder to find a player he doesn't like.

Gruden has all the answers, until you ask him to play F/M/K with Josh Johnson, John Beck and Rich Gannon

The problem with Gruden is you can tell how badly he wants to be back as a coach in the league. He absolutely refuses to be critical of anybody, because he doesn't want to say something to piss off any owner.
If he was willing to give a true insight, he would be much better......because he's actually a smart dude. Instead, he's too worried about his comments coming back to bite him in the ass.

This is 100% accurate.
Anyone see Gruden's 'QB Kamp' special on ESPN last spring before the draft? He was critical, harsh, and honest with all the rookie QB's. Really interesting to watch.
Then I turn on MNF and he sounds like a junior varsity cheerleader. Every sentence starts with "Boy, I really like (name of player, defensive unit, coach)". It's amazing how American broadcast sports are under the impression that announcers can't be honest and objective. You don't get this anywhere else in the world, outside of N. Korea

Ironically enough time has shown that his interest in actually returning to coaching doesn't have nearly enough steam to get him out of the booth but I remember especially when he started that the knock on Gruden as an announcer was he never seemed to say anything bad about anyone on MNF. Sure he would go off on mistakes but then he would come back and talk about how players who made said mistakes were great football players.
