Sellers to Play Sunday

Okay, we here at thewarpath.net have disagreed about a lot of things over the past two days. Gibbs should do this or that, this draft pick was or wasn't a mistake, Portis is or isn't as good as advertised, etc.

Here is something we can all agree on - Mike Sellers is a stud. Sellers got face (and rib) planted in the Raiders game, but still managed to come back to the game. After the trainer's found a hairline fracture in one of Mike Sellers' ribs, he was forced to sit out last week's loss to the Chargers. Now, after just one week, Sellers has declared that he will play this Sunday.

Sellers is a good player, but I do not intend to claim that he is a Pro Bowl stud. BUT, Sellers is a bona fide stud. I love this guy. He plays with heart and emotion (sometimes to our team's detriment) and he's not going to let some minor injury sidelines him. I love this guy's attitude and heart.

The following was reported in today's (November 29th) Washington Post.

Sellers, who missed Sunday's game with a sore back and ribs after being illegally hit by Oakland Raiders linebacker Isaiah Ekejiuba on punt coverage, says he is ready to play against the Rams.

Sellers has been an important element of the Redskins' offense around the goal line, evidenced by his six touchdowns, and is a key member of the special teams unit.

"I'm ready to play," Sellers said, adding that last week he felt as if he had been hit by a Mack truck. "I just have to convince them and wait for them to clear me. I don't think it will be an issue. I'm ready to go out there."

As for Ekejiuba, he was not fined by the NFL for the hit on Sellers. "It doesn't matter. I'll see him again," Sellers said. . . .

Wide receiver James Thrash will miss his third straight game with a pulled hamstring.

Mike Sellers is a MAN. LIke you said that even though the emotion somtimes hurts the team, I love guys like Sellers and Taylor who go out and play like badasses and stand up for themselves and the team.

I suspect that some of the passes that went to Robert Royal in the Chargers game would have gone to Sellers. I don't think he would have dropped them, at least not all of them.

He's an enforcer who sometimes plays with more heart than good sense. We miss him when he's gone.

I will be quite happy to cheer on Mike Sellers this week! He brings it without a crazy paycheck. Guy played CFL. He has seen the otherside. To some people that matters. A guy who's 280 and can play ST and offense most every play is incredible. He got a huge heart and plays like he's watching himself on NFL Films. He ain't gonna give no half hearted effort. Wish they'd sell Sellers jerseys on the Redskins site!!! Christmas is coming up!

Sellers can make a huge difference on short yardage plays. His absence was probably why Gibbs threw on 3rd and 2 last week. I can't wait to get him back!

I feel like we would have won this week had Sellers been playing. I still love Sean, but when you play dirty, other teams will do the same. Of course the Raiders are already as dirty as they come.

Sellers plays w/ heart just like Cooley. They both know where to be when the QB is in trouble and are reliable to catch or block. Sellers is an added threat when he is on the field on offense or special teams.

Sellers is like a big old brick wall. If you put a crack in it you just patch it up and it's ready to go. You've got to love him, he's a brick wall with hands as soft as fresh baked bread!!!

Can Sellers make the PRO BOWL???

Anyone know how he compares in TD's to other FB's? Especially FB's that play special teams? He's gotta be #1 right?

Sellers is a stud, plain and simple. He might not get into the Pro Bowl this year simply because he isn't on the ballot. They have Cooley listed at fullback, and he's been the leading vote getter. They only invite one fullback though. Sucks for Sellers though.
