Taylor's Ability To Hit?

I have been hearing a lot that taylor is not a big hitter in the secondary, but I just saw some highlight's of him, and he absolutly hammered 4 or 5 player's in those highlight's, maybe he doesn't get the opportunity quite as much as a roy william's, but he defiently looked like he could lay out anybody he want's, he does have that kind of power, perhap's he doesn't have as many highlight hit's because he's much more adept at getting to the ball before the reciever get's it, whether it's knocking it down or intercepting it, it's nice as a safety to be able to lay people out, it makes for big entertainment, but I alway's felt it was more important to cover first as a saftey, you can't hit what you can't catch, an interception IMO is more devastating to the opposition than a big hit, taylor look's like the total package if you ask me, I am hopeful we draft him.

i've heard that pretty much the only worry about him is that he tries to make the big hit most of the time and may hurt himself doing so or at the least miss possible tackles.
i was one of the ones saying he's not this sledgehammer of a safety but that was mostly because people were already trying to say he hits as hard as ronnie lott. the only players i know that can hit like lott r linebackers and lineman cuz that dude was a freaking monster. but i do have to say the highlight reel they showed had some pretty impressive hits and i wouldn't mind seeing a few more of those over the years if he gets drafted by the skins but i'd rather see him picking the ball off for a big play. it is nice to know though that he can lay some lumber down if needed.

He's less of a hitter than Roy Williams, but that doesn't make him some sissy Frenchman. Taylor has more of a tendancy to go for the pick rather than the lick, but I'll take an INT over an MRI any day.

P.S. Pipe down. I'm part-French.

Sean Taylor is a better cover safety than Roy Williams. Taylor is a ball hawk and gets more interceptions than Roy Williams. Like you said, I would have interceptions than big hits.

He just doesn't get to hit as much because he is a free safety more than a strong safety because of his great cover skills. But he can hit.

I don't think hitting will be a problem for Taylor. I remember reading a quote from Wilfork where he said something along the lines of "If you look over your shoulder and see Taylor coming, you better get out of the way. He hits like an oncoming train."

that does say a lot coming from an enormous defensive tackle like wilfork.

SKINSnCANES 04-21-2004 12:58 PM

I said this a while ago, but Wilfork also said that Taylor was the best player on the team. Miami players dont ever admit that, they dont think they have weaknesses and they all think they are the best. Taylor will play free safety for us and bowen will move to SS. Then there will be plenty of plays where Taylor picks the ball off while Bowen levels the receiver.

That's the part that wants to go to the day spa, right?

Nobody said "wants to go". Who said "wants to go"? I think day spas are for housewives and little girls!

I have heard good things about the apricot facial scrub though...

SKINSnCANES 04-21-2004 01:29 PM

lol, my girlfriend has the apricot exfoliating body wash, makes the bathroom smell nice when she uses it...

JoeRedskin 04-21-2004 01:44 PM

Okay, the next man who uses the terms "exfoliating" "body scrub" or "apricot flavored" must officially change their signatures to include "I may be a wuss, but I smell good".

SKINSnCANES 04-21-2004 01:47 PM

so Joe, are you trying to prove that becuase you smell it makes us wusses?!?!lol

anyhow, I said it was my girlfriends. I can still be a guy and play dumb and not know what any of the stuff is for or what it does.

We're men, we use things called High Endurance, or Artic Freeze. Somethign with a manely name.

JoeRedskin 04-21-2004 01:54 PM

Actually, I think it was the "exfoliating" references which drove me over the edge. The only thing I "exfoliate" is those 12 beers I drank in under half an hour.

And yes, I am damn proud of my manly stench.

Brud, make sure you hold out for a 'Happy Ending'.
