Charlie Casserly - Final Piece of the Puzzle

Anyone else have a sneaking suspicion that Redskins 1 will be heading down to Houston (weather permitting) to wine and dine Casserly?

How long until he joins the Redskins as GM?

I vote for early next off season.

Why would we want to do that? How are things going with the Texans, exactly? And are you so disappointed with our pickups this season? Really pissed about the Moss trade, huh? ;)

Stability. Stick with what we got for a while.

I love the direction our team has currently, I just feel that Dan Snyder regrets the Casserly/Turner choice.

Just call me 'Nostradamus' next season. ;)

Re: Charlie Casserly - Final Piece of the Puzzle

I've thought about this too. This could be the last year for Casserly and Capers in Houston. If it's one thing Casserly's good at, it's stockpiling draft picks.

Only issues are, Snyder and Cerrato don't seem to care too much about stockpiling draft picks. And, what role would Snyder give Casserly? Would he have to answer to Cerrato? Is Cerrato given his walking papers? Would it cut into Joe Gibbs' authority?

And most of all, would Casserly want to come back here and work for Snyder?

it would be interesting,i don't know. anything is possible i just don't get that feel.but
it wouldn't hurt. he is the one who draft ol 76 the rock. we could always use more players like that

Yep, Casserly could find the gems late in the draft -- Shawn Barber, Stephen Davis, Brian Mitchell, even Gus Frerotte, who wound up sucking more often than he played well for us, but he's still slingin' it around. Jansen and Tre Johnson (who was dominant when he was healthy) were 2nd rounders.

Could be a long shot to come here, though.

What happened to this supposed dynasty he was building in Houston?

Im fine with the way things are, besides Gibbs has final say, Casserly isn't going to relinquish that.

he forgot about the off line, they suck, his 1st round picks have been no-brainers,but some of his moves in later rounds have been qeustionable,he gave up 3 picks last yr to get Jason babin, who was demoted this week, got rid of Aaron Glen to give up 2 picks to the raiders for Philip Buchanaon, who was also demoted this week, nobodys perfect, but I havent been that impressed with the texans progress, whether thats charley's fault,I dont know

Clearly, it's not working out. Everybody gets on Joey Harrington's case, yet you never hear criticizm of David Carr. Andre Johnson and Jabar Gaffney have yet to make any kind of noise as the wideouts, and the offensive line has not come together, if there's even a cohesive unit in the making capable of coming together. Domanick Davis is a ho-hum running back, and the defense, other than Philip Buchanon are made up of no-names, who are living up to that status -- and I don't mean the No-Name defense of the Dolphins.

Casserly has definitely had his chances to build up the Texans, and each year everyone expects them to take the next step, they end up disappointing.

So, knowing this, I guess the question should be, do we want Charlie Casserly?

Ill, with the current situation in Houston it makes for a more likely eventuality than if evreything was rosy.

I will leave my opinion on this matter at "I don't think it will make our situation in Washington stronger."

hey nah, i hear you. i posted My First Casserly Thread a couple weeks back. heh

at this point though, i think the team needs an *accountant* more than anything. i'm hoping BRUNELL is really the last old former star we sign to an absurdly expensive contract. :party-smi
