Redskins family members in Katrina's wake

The Post has reported about Robert Royal's family in New Orleans in today's Redskins notebook. Patrick Ramsey is also a Tulane grad from Ruston, LA, which took a lot of wind, though it isn't near the coast.

Any other Redskins who have been touched by this tragedy?

A nice move by the Skins' owner. That situation in New Orelans is very sad and getting worse.

From what I've heard Ryan Clark got his family out of New Orleans, but unfortunately Jason Campbell still hasn't heard from his sister down in Mississippi.

It's cliche, but really all this just puts everything in perspective

Chris Samuels and Robert McCune both come from Mobile, Alabame, but i haven't heard anything about their respective situations yet.

The devastation down there is incredible.

Horrific pictures and tragic stories. It's hard not to click on, read or watch. It's kind of like slowing down rubber-necking at an accident scene. We are indeed compasionate people because we cannot help but we want to be a part in some way.

Say what you want about Snyder, but how many owners would lend their personal jet to a marginal starter so he could evacuate his family from a natural disaster?

Good on him..

Hats off to Dan Snyder. But this is bigger than anything Dan Snyder has done and will do. We all know how fortunate we are not to be affected physically by this disaster although it has affected our mental state. If we are in a financial position to contribute in anyway possible to our fellow citizens of this country that we all love, then individually we should make it our business to send whatever we can to Red Cross or other legitimate organizations that will assist them, in the same way that we spent making the Redskins organization the wealthiest franchise in the NFL. I'll do my part, what about you?

Good on him..
I would think in times like this most owners would do as Snyder did. They may not be the stare of the team but they are a person and I would hope thats all that would matter.

Re: Redskins family members in Katrina's wake

I was down there the day before it happened. I was supposed to move into Tulane that Sunday. I got there Saturday, I was in the car since Friday night, I hadn't heard any weather. My girlfriend called me right when I was getting into to LA and told me the hurricane was headed that way. I didn't think it would be that strong. When I stopped for gas I heard it could get as strong as a category 5 and I decided to go to the campus and find out what their plan was. Well, needless to say I didn't move in. I stayed in the city that night and got out first thing in the morning. I never felt any effects of the storm on the trip, but it's really sobering to see the devastation after I was there that morning. I was supposed to be there that day. Now I don't know when TU will open.

I've heard I'll know in the next 72 hours, but it doesn't matter that much. What's important is the safety of everyone else in and around the city.

Good thing 35 percent of the NATIONal Guard down there along with their power generators and high-water vehicles are in Iraq instead of, you know, guarding the NATION.

I know that Chris Samuels said that his mom just had shingles blown off her roof and the same with her sister. Not sure about McCune though.

It absolutely slipped my mind that you were headed down there. I glad you are OK.

You've got the right attitude about getting back there. When it happens, it happens - the people in and around that are have to come first.
