Great News from my Son in Tikrit Iraq
My son Tony has been in Iraq for almost a year and in that time a very important change has occored in him and he is a better man for it. He's now a devoted REDSKINS fan! Yep he even bought a Clinton Portis jersey off ebay and even his AIM avatar is a helmet.
Growing up he was always a little indifferent about football as like many young kids he played soccer. The jersey is coming here as he should be coming home in Nov but I am mailing him a Redskins hat for him to wear proudly while he's still serving overseas. Sorry if this is off topic but I'm a proud Dad and this is icing on the cake. Have a great day folks peace mike |

Mike-
Congratulations! I'm sure that it's been a trying year for you, despite your obvious pride in your son. Good luck to you both, and thank him from me. Brud |

Re: Great News from my Son in Tikrit Iraq
Thanks guys.
Yes I have floods of emotions about him being there other than pride and honor. I want to get this job done in that God forsaken place and get all the kids home. Semper Fi! Hail to the Redskins! mike |

For whatever reason he or you come through Norfolk (NOB) and need a ride from the MAC Terminal to Norfolk International, let me know. :oink:

Great news, SBF. Hope November comes quickly and your son comes back without a scratch!
Out of curiosity, how did he become a huge football fan in Iraq. Do they get to see football replays in downtime? Just curious! |

I say Amen to the above. For all of our Warfighters in harms way, and whereever they may be stationed all over the world. |
Re: Great News from my Son in Tikrit Iraq
Awesome news, SBF!
God bless your son and all our service men and women. |
Re: Great News from my Son in Tikrit Iraq
Make sure you give him my big time thank's as well SBF!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Spending time in the middle east should cure anyone of soccer. |
Re: Great News from my Son in Tikrit Iraq
hahahaha!
I sure will folks. Daseal, I think they got to watch a bunch of games through armed forces TV and with his buddy cheering for a team I think he figured his roots were the way to go and started cheering for the Skins. His next duty station is Ft. Belvoir which is local DC area so it will be great to get him to some games so we have him locked in as a life time Skins fan. Of course a winning team would help too...hint hint Joe Gibbs as I know you lurk here looking for ideas. lol peace |
Re: Great News from my Son in Tikrit Iraq
Currently what we are trying to organize right now at hailRedskins.com is to have Members of hR record the games weekly on DVD so we can have them sent to your son in Iraq and he can have the opportunity to see the Redskins week in and week out. We did this last year for a member of hR that was serving in Baghdad, he is home now, but just that little gift from us was a simple way for us to say thank you for serving this great nation. Sammy --- I am in the process of getting this organized for your son to receive these games erach week!
