Any news on Smoot?
Has anybody heard anything? Profootballtalk.com is reporting that Pierce is close to signing with the Giants.
http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm I seriously hope they are wrong. All I want is Smoot and Pierce back. |
Re: Any news on Smoot?
Yeah I hope it's not true either, but I am content since we all know about the profootball (a.k.a. nonsense) rumormill. I think the skins would match a 6 year $25 million contract anyway. I think that would give the skins room to sign Pierce, Smoot, and maybe another pickup or two.
THANKS FOR THE CAP RELIEF MR. SAMUELS!!! |
Re: Any news on Smoot?
Hopefully, these guys stay true to their word and give the skins the last chance to match any deal. Teams can be pushy though about not letting guys leave town without signing. We see it all the time with Danny and other teams players. Teams are not going to want thier contract offers used by these guys just to drive up the Redskins price.

Re: Any news on Smoot?
I hope they they are merely testing the waters to see what they are worth around the league so that they can force danny into signing them for a possible larger amount than he would have.

Re: Any news on Smoot?
Dallas is out of the Smoot running. They just signed a free agent CB today. They signed Anthony Henry fromn the Browns.
From ESPN: He will get a five-year, $25 million deal. The fourth-year veteran will bank a $10 million signing bonus, a $1 million roster bonus in 2005 and a $1 million roster bonus in 2006. He will be paid $18 million over the first three years of his contract. He was one of the top free agent CB's so maybe him only getting a 10 mil bonus will bring down Smoots price a tad... Re: Any news on Smoot?
$10 million is quite high and if anything it upped Smoot's asking price. Smoot is younger, more talented and better known than Henry.
As for Profootballtalk, don't pay any attention to that site, it's crap. That site produces more turds than fat camp kids at Taco Bell. |

Doesnt matter if its a 15 mil bonus. They just need to resign him. |
Re: Any news on Smoot?
if i were the skins and i saw this market, i'd offer 12.5-13mill and cave... cause it obvious the market is going to be way overpriced this year...

Re: Any news on Smoot?
I agree.......especially if Pierce signs with the Giants. We need to keep at least one of the two of them....plus we have better options to replace Pierce at MLB on the team already.
