Is Wynn worth it?
2005 salary $ 4,083
Release fee $ 1,750 I say cut him ,Williams can get somebody to perform. |
Re: Is Wynn worth it?
The man JUST restructured to help us out! Wynn has played solid every single year. He's not a speed rusher on the end but he's very solid and we need to try to keep him. I don't think our Dline is in need of any help right now - we have bigger priorities.

Re: Is Wynn worth it?
Wynn's cap figure is somewhat ridiculous. But, as Daseal pointed out, the guy just did restructure. I don't think it sends a good message to renegotiate a guy's deal and then cut him. Also, he is a solid run-stuffer. Third, good defensive ends are among the league's highest paid players. Finally, he seems to be a good "team guy;" he never bitches and seems to want to be here.

Re: Is Wynn worth it?
are u sure thats his salary this year after the restructure?
|
Re: Is Wynn worth it?
Yeah he is one of the many that we are overpaying. Solid player, even better now that GW is here, but still over paid.
|
Re: Is Wynn worth it?
Since Wynn just restructured, if you cut him now his cap hit in 2005 would be bigger by cutting him than it would by keeping him. You'd save no cap space.
The figures previously posted on the opening message in the thread are pre-restructure figures. Now that he's restructured, the whole situation changes. |
Re: Is Wynn worth it?
He's not going anywhere.

Re: Is Wynn worth it?
Probably at least half the players in the NFL are overpaid....NOT just on the Redskins. Wynn isn't great, but he has been a solid player that wants to be here and seems to be a good locker room presence... i.e. "a core Redskin" (core players don't have to be "stars").
As Matty said, he's not going anywhere. |
Re: Is Wynn worth it?
I don't care if we don't sign any of our "names", the defense proved that we can win with the no-namers. Betcha the Offense is the same way.

And that's why they will be alright. That's how the Patriots are, and that's exactly why they remind me of Gibbs Skins of old. Teams built of "no-name" players that become "stars" by their play, not because they were big names already. |
Re: Is Wynn worth it?
I concur the guy did a favor and restructured.........if we cut him we become the Arizona Cardinals...........no player would want to come here, except maybe hasbeen Cowboys.........

Re: Is Wynn worth it?
Bozzy - Defense has a great scheme... Offense needs every star in the NFL.

Re: Is Wynn worth it?
If the question is "Is he worth it?" The answer is no.
If the question is "Will we do something about it?" The answer is no. |
Re: Is Wynn worth it?
Guys, his 2005 cap figure after restructuring is only $2.19 million. He's not a problem, no reason to cut him.
Brandon Noble is a target for the axe, he could save us $1 million by cutting him. Cory Raymer is another possibility, cutting him would save $900K. We'd need replacements for those guys though. |
Re: Is Wynn worth it?
Need a replacement for Cory Raymer? Check the homeless shelter. There has to be someone on the street you can pick up that can snap a ball then actually put a hand on his guy before he jumps up in the passing lane.
