Redskins are one of the teams using IPads for playbooks
I had some interest earlier in the offseason regarding the Redskins use of paper for their playbooks or whether they had transitioned to IPads like everybody else, but nobody knew the answer to the question. Well Kirk Cousins has done me a solid and revealed the answer, with courtesy to Rich Campbell for being on my feed.
“@Rich_Campbell: Combos nicely w/ this story by @JeffDarlington: http://t.co/VPOgk95y RT @KirkCousins8: Love having an iPad playbook. Makes life a lot easier” Also in that tweet for anyone interested is an article by Jeff Darlington about teams transitioning to IPad playbooks. It's a good read, and I'm very curious to see how this will translate to our on-field performance this season. |

Agreed. Any word of RGIII signing? I know thats totally off topic lol

The convenience factor is definitely high for the players, outside of that I'm not sure how this impacts anything on the field really. Cool nonetheless.

It's ironic. It makes them more and less vulnerable to theft. On one hand they're most likely being tracked with GPS unlike a paper playbook which can be handed off or copied without leaving a trace. On the other hand you find the right guy that can work a computer and in one fell swoop someone can hack into an opposing teams playbook. Sure you still need someone to decipher it but it's an odd trade off in terms of risk.

That was my first thought when I saw that teams were moving to digital. I can definitely see Jerry Jones and Belichek hiring hackers to steal playbooks, lol. |
Re: Redskins are one of the teams using IPads for playbooks
Hacking the entire playbook won't help an opposing defense very much.
They would need the actual gameplan and I doubt any team would put their gameplan on the team groupshare Ipad. The gameplan will probably be handed out or told via dictation in position group meetings and the players then look up the corresponding plays in their playbooks. |

Not only that, I'm sure that they have enterprise password protection (forced) on all of them. Pretty awesome.

I have been sitting around checking all day and have yet to hear anything new. Does anyone, Matty, SS or anyone else know if they are any closer? I sure hope we aren't waiting til Luck signs, that could be almost 2 weeks seeing that the Colts don't report until near the end of the month. |

I wonder if coaches will be able to pull up stats on how much it was used. Like if a RB keeps missing protections will they go to him with the number of times he looked at the playbook. As for hacking, maybe they don't put the gameplan on there but a hacker could easily find the patterns of what the qb or RB is looking at in the days leadiing up to the game. |

Sure. |
Re: Redskins are one of the teams using IPads for playbooks
Paper playbooks could be "hacked," too, by thieves. The difference to me is that there is no way to remotely wipe a paper playbook clean. So while there is the possibility of information theft with the tablets, they appear to be much safer, whether the game plan is included or not.

Maybe they wouldn't connect any of these Ipads to the internet...

That would kinda defeat the point of having them. |
