Season Awards: Offensive MVP (skill positions)
 

It's slim pickings offensively but here are the nominees:

Patrick Ramsey: 62.1%, 1665 yards, 10 TD, 11 INT
Clinton Portis: 1315 yards, 3.8 ypc, 5 TD, 40 catches, 235 yards, 2 TD
Laveranues Coles: 90 catches, 950 yards, 1 TD
Chris Cooley: 37 catches, 314 yards, 6 TD

I have to go with Portis. He was basically our offense. Whenever he rushed for over 100 yds we won.......nuff said.

what about randy thomas or someone like that. none of our skill players really had that good a year to be mvp

The only guy who really came up big in all situations was Cooley, Portis had a pretty good year. Still on that side of the ball, there was really no one deserving of MVP. However, proboly Portis.

Cooley was the only guy who made plays for us consistently this year so I go with him.

as well as Cooley did this year, Portis ran for 1300 yards in an offense that didn't allow for him to be very successful. Defenses were gunning for him all year, and he did extremely well. Ramsey didn't play in half of the games this year, and Coles had an average year because of the fact the offense couldn't get the ball down the field.

I'll say Brunell (other). Not only was he so courageous but no one was more "offensive" than him. He offended the QB position, he offended our faith in the Joe Gibbs system, he offended our playoff chances...

Or I'll say Portis for many of the same reasons already posted.

I'd go with Portis for the same reasons already mentioned. He was our entire offense for the most part, despite having virutally no passing attack he grinded out 1300 yards.

With improvements to the line and passing game in 2005 he should easily bounce back to the 1500+ yard range.

I agree. Portis was a VERY close second, but when a big play was needed or a touchdown, Cooley was the man.

Why is Ramsey on the list?

I pick Portis for MVP.

Portis, what's the discussion?

Cooley and Royal may have gotten us the touchdowns, but it was Portis who got us near the end zone. 1300 yds with no passers or catchers to really speak of, and it was essentially against "4-7" defenses up against the line just aiming at him.

not bad for a 200lber. imagine what he could do with Jansen back and a real center, plus a fully healthy Coles and a practiced Ramsey. can't wait to see.

gotta go with portis. he had more receptions than cooley did, more touchdowns, and lets not forget the 1300 rushing yards.

don't forget Coles' lone touchdown was a pass from...Portis
