Change the season!

Ok, here we are at 5-9. We know that a record of 9-6 would have us in the playoffs this year. Assuming we lose against the Viks, lets play armchair QB and determine what it would have took to win 4 other games. This should tells us a little bit about what Gibb's will be seeing when he evaluates the team this next week.

I'm looking for a couple of game changing plays (or penalties i.e. Cowboys) that would change this seasons outcome.

Rules:
We have to use the current Gibbs system but we can tweek it.
No entire gameplan changes.
No new players on the roster other than who we had on the practice squad.

We should've given the refs head like Parcells did before Week 3's game against the Boys where we got ROBBED. ONE EXTRA WIN

Better clock management would've helped us out a lot.

The PI calls in the first Dallas game were a killer.

The turnovers in the first Giants game, again a killer.

The Skins were a few plays away from beating the Eagles a few weeks ago.

Last week, well let's not even go there.

Theres only two games where you cant point to just one or two plays and call that the game. The Eagles (first game ) and Steelers were the only games where we just got beat, proboly the Bengals too. Everything else its just one or two plays.... it really sucks.

Cowboys Game 1: Make a large contribution to the NFL officials christmas fund.

Packers Game: See Cowboys game 1.

Cowboys Game 2: Blitz Vinny to death on the last drive instead of playing prevent d and prevent the last TD. Also, put Rasby in the backfield with Portis or Betts on short yardage while leaving Cooley at TE. This gives us three options and the defense can't just key on the RB. That converts 6 pts into 14 pts.

Philly Game 2: Kick the field goal to tie the game and win in OT.

With Ramsey, the Ravens game, the Browns game, and the first Giants game should have been wins. I can't remember specific plays from the Ravens game but I do remember that they basically scored on 2 plays.

delay of game and illegal motion penalties have killed us. Keeping the coaching staff intact will improve those areas.

I forgot about the Packers and Ravens games. Another two that we very well should have won.

Seems like we've managed to lose games in so many different ways this year.

That's precisely the point, Matty - I disagree with anyone that says that we were close - a play here and there from inking 3-4 more wins. We've managed to lose games in so many different ways (sometimes poor offensive execution, sometimes penalties, poor playcalling, sometimes defensive lapses) - that's precisely why it isn't easy to predict success next year.

Well I guess you differ with me too. I don't think we were that far from 3-4 more victories. Most of the games were decided by 7 points or less. A bad call (see Dallas PI calls and no-calls), one or two poorly thrown balls, a dropped pass (Kozlowski), etc was the difference in about 10 of 15 games.

Don't we almost win nearly every game EVERY YEAR? We always have a few solid losses, but we seem so close because we keep it close.

That's the difference between good teams and bad ones. Good ones make the plays that decide games and bad ones don't.
