QB prospects in the draft (post McNabb edition)
The trade for Donovan McNabb probably ends our pursuit of a QB early in the draft. It (hopefully) means we know who our starting QB will be for the next few years. However, I still believe the franchise (particularly Kyle Shanahan) should taret a mid-late round QB prospect to groom over the next 3 years behind Donovan. This would give our heir-apparent Head Coach a personally developed heir-apparent at QB.
Who would you liek to see us grab? I'm leaning towards Jarrett Brown from WVU. See link below. NFL Videos: 2010 Draft Vignettes - Jarrett Brown, West Virginia |
Re: QB prospects in the draft (post McNabb edition)
I don't think we should use one of our few picks this year on a "project" qb. Too many other needs on OL, LB, S. Look at QB in next year's draft, this year fill needs. I also think Brown from WVA might be an UFA.

Re: QB prospects in the draft (post McNabb edition)
Most recent mock draft I saw had us taking Bradford. Crazier things have happened. Next year I would be all for trading whatever we have to trade for Jake Locker or the Arkansas QB. Okung and some linemen now, and gradually rebuild this team.

I would agree with the build O line this year and worry about an heir to the Mcnabb throne next year logic. I cant believe that i just typed that.

Other QBs that are in the mix: Zach Robinson Dan LeFevour John Skelton But, i like the Jarrett Brown kid but he's gotten enough exposure that he probably will be gone by 5th round and down. |
Re: QB prospects in the draft (post McNabb edition)
If we don't pick up at least an OT and a C in this draft, it will be a big mistake

Re: QB prospects in the draft (post McNabb edition)
If Bradford is sitting at 4, Skins take him.

PFFF! We don't need a project QB, we already have PJ5 er um PJ6 (perhaps?) waiting in the wings. Seriously, QB is about as much of a need as GM right now.

And like Todd, he'll be gone soon. |
Re: QB prospects in the draft (post McNabb edition)
I'm hoping we wait till next year when the QB class is stronger, and take a guy to sit a few years behind Mcnabb. With any luck we won't be able to get Locker (people are thinking he's going 1 overall and I hope we won't be in that position), but Id love it if Andrew Luck of Stanford coms out and we get him. I think he's gonna be a star, and Shannahan gets the next great QB out of Stanford.

Here's my guy:
Ryan Perrilloux*|*Jacksonville State,*QB*:*2010 NFL Draft Scout Player Profile He's compared to McNabb so now it makes even more sense. He had major chacter issues during his first 2-3 years in college, but why not take a chance on him in the 7th or UDFA? You don't think that the acquisition of McNabb and the possible trade of Campbell didn't just secure Brennan's future for a couple of years? I think that this move is the best thing that could have happened for Colt. If this move had not been pulled off then PJ15's days would have been numbered. This move has given him new life...at least for another season or 2. |
