"2. Sean Taylor, S, Washington: Taylor might be the best athlete playing defense in the NFL"

cpayne5 10-21-2004 11:45 PM

I can't wait till he's called the best *player* playing defense in the NFL.

I don't know why people are hyping Taylor. He hasn't done jack shit so far and to tell you the truth, I wasn't impressed with that pick. It was floater that could have been grabbed by anyone. My crippled cousin could have picked that one and he is on crutches.

I think he is gifted and a decent player but by no means is he an impact player, yet.

Oh, and Jackassworth is a dick.

Taylor's speed is scary for his size, Quinn never had a chance. Imagine this Taylor blitzing from one end & Arrington from the other. Meeting at the QB.

Saden: Taylor read the pass and he just waited for the ball, then made a great move to seal off the game. At first I thought it was a horrible pass, then I saw it from a different angle, and Taylor made a good play. It wasn't spectacular, but I'll take it.

Taylor has been around nearly every tackle since he's started, and most of the time when you see a TD and Taylor right there, it wasn't his guy. He's been burned a good 3-4 times, but you expect that out of a rookie. Give him a little time, he'll be a beast.

I'm with Saden on this one. Don't get me wrong, I was excited as the Hogettes at an all-you-can-eat buffet when we drafted Taylor, but since the preseason I've seen a whole lot of poor tackling. He's got good vision, so he's usually in the vicinity of the play but has been beaten several times and has missed some straight on tackles.

Of course, he's a rook. So it's all good - he'll get better. I think (hope) he'll be an animal very soon. However, one interception (even though it was at a crucial point) does not a superstar make. Let's see him keep it up for a few weeks...

I thought the Bears game was a bit of a turning point for Taylor. He made some really nice plays and flashed some of his incredible athleticism, seems like the game is starting to slow down for him.

Nobody is saying he's the best safety in the game right now, but he's starting to flash, that's all anybody is saying.

Nice to see Sean's hard work paying off. I think he's going to be a great player years to come.

I think it say's a lot that people outside of the Redskins are praising Taylor even though he has'nt made a lot of highlight films. This was his first impact game and he did miss some tackles (that one where jones ran by him looked bad) but like Daseal has said he is always around the ball. And I think why the experts are so high on him is because of his speed & size. With a little experience he has the potential to be the best in the game.

kingerock 10-22-2004 12:06 PM

I think once Arrington is back in he'll be free to make more plays against the pass. With Bowen and Arrington out he's been playing closer to the line which isn't his strength. He plays well deep and making plays on receivers rather than on backs and TEs. And if I remember right 1 or 2 of those plays he got "burnt" on he was racing in to help after another player missed their assignment.

Taylor needed a game like this to solidify his comfort level with the game. I'll enjoy what him and the rest of the D does to the Packers offense.

Our Offense should be clicking by then also, great game.

No, it does not make him a star but we all saw what Arringtons one play against Carolina did for him and the team that year. One play can bust everything wide open! Just need to find out if that was that kind of play for him.

SKINSnCANES 10-23-2004 04:19 PM

I think taylor is doing an amazing job for us, and not for the reasons that you guys think im going to say. He hasnt been making the big plays that he did in the preseason, and you know what, look how good our d has been. Williams would not start him until he knew he would play in his system and work as a team player. It made me mad becuase I wanted taylor to do his thing and make plays, but you cant aruge with what williams has done. its like when arrington didnt like that williams wanted him to play in a 3 point stance and not run around. all arrington did was have his best year.

jordanz301 10-23-2004 09:26 PM

yes even thou sean taylor does not have that many interceptions this year besides one hes makin key plays by cover nd makin big hits.....nd big hits is wut i count as a good player
