ochocinco fined $20,000

ochocinco was fined for his fake bribery attempt $20,000. i think thats a bit excessive, i miss good old end zone dances, maybe it's just me, but while i don't like celebrating after making an average tackle when you score you should be able to celebrate, i think the nfl is taking away part of the game that is fun to watch and if they say it's cause of time, then they should knock out some of the tv timeouts

Not a fan of Chad "Ochocinco" but this is silly. It wasn't serious and I don't even think the ref really saw what he was doing. However the NFL has a long history of being the no fun league.

He does these not-so-funny stunts for personal attention, so I have no problem with increasing the dollar amount every time. It's getting old.

This fine money goes to charities, right?

He's going to end up like MC Hammer after his playing days...he throws so much of his money away.

Apparently you didn't watch Hard Knocks on HBO during trainging camp, the guy is cheap!!! He went to Clairs and bought cubic zirconia ear rings and made the statement just because you have money doesn't mean you have to spend it...

The NFL reminds me of working for corporate america. No fun. 20k for what he did is just ridiculous. Those stiff suits on Park Avenue really need to chill out.

I though the ear ring thing was hilarious and started liking Ochocinco because of Hard Knocks... Before that I always thought he was TO Junior, but Hard Kocks really showed that he is just a smart ass who loves performing for an audience, whether its clowning or catching TD's. Reminds me of Riggo a little honestly...

I'm glad some NFL players get that.

I don't think he has any problems paying the fines....whatever celebration/stunt makes him feel better is good with him.

Re: ochocinco fined $20,000

I think he deserved this much of a fine, if not more. It seems unfair, but if you think about it for a second it makes sense.

To the NFL the upmost importance, is keeping a good image. That is why it is one of the most popular leagues. There is almost zero doubt about the refs credibility. They makes millions of dollars a year, and that is all at stake. The harsh fee is to show other players and the rest of us the NFL holds the refs to high integrity standard.

I am glad they did that.

I think his stunt was fine, and he should not have been fined. Of course, I love all the escapades. From the fun bunch on, look if a team doesn't want another team to celebrate Stop them. It can be done to any team and any player. All these fines for celebrating are ridiculous.

Q: Where does the money go that the NFL collects as fines from teams and players? -- Lee, Tallahassee, Florida
MORT -- The fine money is distributed to three charities -- the Brian Piccolo Cancer Center, the Vince Lombardi Cancer Research Center and the NFL Players Association Players' Assistance Trust. The latter charity is for former players who are struggling in their post-playing career.
This is what I found but its about 6 years old:

technically this wasn't a celebration either, it was an antic.

Re: ochocinco fined $20,000

I love Chad Ochocinco. He never gets in trouble off the field and he has FUN on the field. His stunts never hurt anyone or offend anyone. They're in good fun. I typically hate 106.7, but they made a good point today. He gets fined 20000 for that, and Mike Smith gets 15000 for grabbing a player and talking trash to him? If DHall grabbed Mike Smith by the collar, what would happen to him?

CJ is a great player who has fun. I'd take him in a second, at least we'd have a legitimate player on offense besides cooley.
