Clinton Portis among players who have worn out their welcome
I don't completely agree with the article (The CP part) but here it is:
Chiefs' Johnson, others have worn out welcome - NFL - Yahoo! Sports I think Portis has lost a step but I think he'd be doing a lot better if we had a better oline. I believe that the way the oline is playing makes him look worst than he really is. |

What did Quinn to do piss off Mangina?

Re: Clinton Portis among players who have worn out their welcome
what about trading Quinn for Portis?

Re: Clinton Portis among players who have worn out their welcome
For the benefit of himself and the team, he needs to be on the South end of a....broom come January

Nice, it's not often that you can work the word "mangina" into a conversation. |

A couple of months ago I would have said no way, but now....something to think about. |
Re: Clinton Portis among players who have worn out their welcome
Clinton still has it...he's just not seeing too many holes to burst through with our god awful line. I still like CP, he can stay.

I'd do it. Quinn's young enough, probably still has a ton of potential and could use a change of scenery, and he won't break the bank. And we'll get rid of Portis before the wheels completely fall off and unload what's becoming a yearly renewed contract. |

I think that's precisely why we should trade him - he still has it. Let's start moving guys out like the Pats do. They're usually a year or two ahead of the player reaching their decline. Portis still has some trade value and I think we can make a move or two. |
Re: Clinton Portis among players who have worn out their welcome
To tell you the truth, I wouldnt mind seeing the skins trade Portis for Merriman straight up. Isn't he up for FA this offseason???? Easy pickins for D. Snyder there........
Then, go ahead and replace Orakpo with Merriman, and let Orakpo stay at defensive end, his natural kick some ass position. Damn, just thinking about it, this could do absolutely nothing but strengthen the hell out of our already vicious front seven. Let Orakpo get this season under his belt, helping out and refining his speed and agility. Then bring in the young and very talented Merriman, who should carry along with him a chip on his shoulder the size of Barry Bonds head. Give them the preseason to gel, and currently in the NFL, I do not see another defensive unit, at least another front seven, that I would rather have, hands down. Just think of it, a quicker, stronger Orakpo with an NFL season already under his belt, w00 h00!!!!!! He could really find his niche with that lineup right there. Man, I wish that D. Snyder would actually do the above. The more I think about it, the more that it makes so much sense, other than the fact that the Chargers might not want to let him go. I also, for that front seven, wouldn't be TOO much against trading Someone like a Devin Thomas or Malcolm Kelly and a 2011 4th rounder for Merriman, which actually sounds like a fairly feasible deal. Then we could just part ways with some underacheiving waste of roster space, and put Marko Mitchell next to Moss, and let him shine like we all know he can, and will! The Chargers might like and actually utilize a receiver like D. Thomas, and the lack of an OLine and QB on our side could be the reason D. Thomas hasn't performed worth a shit yet. Well, at least that would be our explanation, right????!!!! Merriman Fletcher R. McIntosh Orakpo Haynesworth Golston Carter ----- I am starting to drool ----------------- |
Re: Clinton Portis among players who have worn out their welcome
The Giants have Ahmad Bradshaw as a backup, Eagles have McCoy as a backup, Cowboys have Felix Jones as a backup. We need our own instant playmaker draft CJ Spiller he can return punts and kicks, and the change of pace back that we will need he has a little power but a ton of speed. He can replace Portis!!!

But yeah, I'd like to see Merriman here. He might be juiced but he's good. |
