Dallas Cowboys release safety Roy Williams
IRVING - Roy Williams is no longer a Dallas Cowboy.
After attempts to trade the five-time Pro Bowl safety failed, the Cowboys decided to release Williams, their No. 1 draft pick in 2002. By cutting Williams, the Cowboys save roughly $2 million in salary-cap space in 2009 and close the book on a player who was once the face of the franchise. Anybody want a "one trick pony" in thier secondary? |
Re: Dallas Cowboys release safety Roy Williams
Cowboys are seriously cleaning house. I wonder if they're going to do the smart thing and realize that they (like us) aren't truly contenders right now and are going to start building from the ground up.

Man, they are having a house cleaning. When is Jerry Jones releasing himself?

I was about to ask the same question, because a lot of people have been speculating that teams are looking at him to possibly play the weakside in a 4-3 defense. |

Freeing up room for Ware's mega contract?

Re: Dallas Cowboys release safety Roy Williams
Wow, Did Jerry hit his head and sign over authority to Stephen for a day???

Re: Dallas Cowboys release safety Roy Williams
Damn, that's two in two days.
This is bigger news than the stimulus. |

I would ask him to bulk up 10 lbs. and put him at the WLB and move Rocky to SLB. |

Hmm, thats an interesting idea, but 10lbs wouldnt be enough. He'd really have to bulk up atleast 20lbs and maintain that weight the entire season... i dont think its realistic. |

Well, I was comparing Rocky's weight to him. Rocky is listed as 238 lbs, Roy Williams is listed as 221 lbs. |

Re: Dallas Cowboys release safety Roy Williams
From what Pat Kirwan is saying, the Cowboys have almost no money to free up. All of the base money on their contracts is really really low and turned into bonuses and such.
