Colin Powell endorses Obama
Big deal? Not important? You decide.

Re: Colin Powell endorses Obama
Not surprising, but (in my opinion) Powell is one of those guys who when he speaks you listen. I would have loved to seen him on a presidential ticket. I tend to agree with him when he says it's not so much about McCain but about his fears of the direction of the Republican party.

Re: Colin Powell endorses Obama
Pretty significant if you ask me.

Re: Colin Powell endorses Obama
That's a nice endorsement but hardly changes anything. What's more news worthy is that Obama raised more than 150 million dollars in September.

Re: Colin Powell endorses Obama
Wow. The guy knows how to raise money, for sure.

Maybe getting throttled this year will end up being a positive thing for the Repubs in the long term.

Re: Colin Powell endorses Obama
While I don't agree with Barack Obama philisophically on most issues, the one area where I favor him over McCain is temperament.
Obama strikes me as someone who is more thoughtful, more introspective and level-headed. McCain appears as more impulsive, acting from the gut. And his first instinct appears to be violence. Now, that may be a product of his military background. But we've had eight years of a president and an administration who obviously acts without thinking things through. It's time for a departure from that. |
Re: Colin Powell endorses Obama
Full endorsement in full context...it's the most reasoned endorsement I have ever seen:

Re: Colin Powell endorses Obama
Much respect to C. Powell. Had he run, he would have my vote as well.

Re: Colin Powell endorses Obama
Anybody hear Rush Limbaugh on this issue ?
He's mixing a speech from Obama reacting to his new supporter with Powell's speech to the U.N. on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction. Obviously asking the question of why Obama is so pleased with the endorsement of a person who initially opposed him on the Iraq war. |
Re: Colin Powell endorses Obama
Ok, Powell Supports Obama, but does Obama support Colin? It would be pretty shitty if he didn't.
...Pause for effect.... Somebody still doesn't get it. |

You have proved my point. |
Re: Colin Powell endorses Obama
The only thing Rush Limbaugh is suggesting is that this endorsement is based on race. Black guy supporting another black guy.
"Secretary Powell says his endorsement is not about race," Limbaugh wrote in an e-mail. "OK, fine. I am now researching his past endorsements to see if I can find all the inexperienced, very liberal, white candidates he has endorsed. I'll let you know what I come up with."
Perhaps Powell wants to redeem himself? Doesn't want to make the same mistake by endorsing a pro war implosive guy like McCain? I mean, he did walk away from the Bush administration after all. Nah, not sexy enough. This is pure unadulterated black racism. |

Okay, help me out here: What point are you trying to make, exactly? |
