JLC vs. Cerrato takes a new twist?
On Vinny's show this morning VC said that JLC called the NFL and requested the Redskins be sanctioned for tampering because VC and Schefter discussed the Lane Kiffin situation last Friday.
There's an axe to grind and there's trying to hurt the franchise. It'll be interesting to see what JLC says in Insider to respond. |
Re: JLC vs. Cerrato takes a new twist?
If that's true that's pretty shitty on JLC's part, but really not surprising.

Re: JLC vs. Cerrato takes a new twist?
wow, that is really messed up.

Re: JLC vs. Cerrato takes a new twist?
You gotta be kidding me! Why would JLC even think that is tampering? VC isn't allowed to talk to a reporter about something like that? There has to be more to that story. JLC may have an axe to grind but I don't think he is stupid and you'd have to be stupid to think that is tampering. You'd also have to be stupid to get involved like that when your job basically depends on having access that would most likely get cut off once you go around burning bridges like that. No way I believe it. I just don't think he is that stupid.

Re: JLC vs. Cerrato takes a new twist?
Is this really a surprise? JLC's distaste for Snyder and Cerrato never ceases to amaze me. I'm pretty critical of the two, but JLC takes things to a different, unprofessional level. JLC comes off as a little, angry, bitter twirp.

Re: JLC vs. Cerrato takes a new twist?
I've looked around and at extremeskins they are basically saying JLC called up the NFL to see if we'd be charged with tampering for the conversation that Shefter and VC had about Kiffin last week ON FREAKING AIR! Like talking about a situation like that is tampering. How the f*ck is that even remotely tampering? Why would that dumbass think of tyhat question? What the hell is wrong with JLC? He needs to to bve moved to another beat. I love the work he has done in the past but he has become clearly not objective. Is he like 5 years old? Trying to be a tattletale?

Don't forget "know it all". What I think is funny is how much Larry Michale's hates him. On Mchael's comcast show he does the source-meter thing where it basically is a shot directly at JLC for using uncited sources all the time. It is a feature specifically designed for JLC and JLC only. It is quite alarming that Larry would do it which makes it pretty clear how much he disrespects JLC. |
Re: JLC vs. Cerrato takes a new twist?
wow. what a beyatch. i'll be checking insider for his rebuttal. but if that's true, i'm not reading insider anymore. i don't respect that.

Re: JLC vs. Cerrato takes a new twist?
Do you guys actually believe everything VC sais is true? Let's wait for a little more to come out of this. You never know but i'd think that JLC wouldn't do something like that w/ out some serious proof behind the accusations.
As we've learned just b/c VC sais something, don't neccessarily believe it's true. There may indeed be an axe to grind w/ JLC. Before we find JLC guilty I think it's best to get some more info. |
Re: JLC vs. Cerrato takes a new twist?
I forgot to mention in the original post that it was an on air interview that the conversation took place. It was NOWHERE close to tampering, he just offered a question and opinion.

Re: JLC vs. Cerrato takes a new twist?
JLC needs to go. Make him cover DC United or the Capitals. I think Barry Svrluga (sp) would be a huge upgrade as a beat writer. He did a great job when he covered the Nats.
I think JLC definitely has an axe to grind with our FO. He needs to get over it and just do his job. What douche.... |

He doesn't just take swipes at the FO moves (which is fair), he seems to take swipes at the FO as individuals (which is a little unprofessional, even for a blog). |

I know nothing about the situation other than what I have read in this thread. Clearly there is a dislike between LaCanfora and the FO and it runs in both directions. Based on your description of events, though, isn't calling the NFL office to ask a question reporting? It actually strikes me as kind of an interesting question. Given the unprecedented nature of having an NFL executive do a radio show, could conversations he has on the air become tampering and how much latitude does he really have to discuss issues that a normal radio host could obviously cover with ease. Seems like a legitimate question to me. Because the way you put it, he was not calling to tell the NFL office there was tampering, he was asking whether they considered it tampering. Reporters do ask questions. |
Re: JLC vs. Cerrato takes a new twist?
TAMPERING? How? We're not trying to hire Kiffin and we don't benefit in any way whether he stays or goes.
It's nothing like when Minnesota was talking to Favre...they were actually trying to get him on their team. |
