That was about 10 months coming.

does anyone else think the Mets management is a bunch of jackasses?

Yes, HUGE jackasses. They just won a game, let Randolph do a press conference, speak about building on the win, then fire him at 3 a.m. while he's all the way on the other side of the country.

I don't believe HE is the problem. The Mets' pitching is horrible this year, especially the bullpen other than Wagner. Heilman has been incredibly ugly on the mound and he was the one guy they count on to get to Wagner. Pedro was a bust again, they lost Glavine.

The offense is pretty good despite Carlos Delgado, but they can't score THAT many runs every night.

Randolph should stay. The GM should go. However, that's not how baseball works. The manager always gets axed first.

They way this came down was pretty shady. A 3am firing? Very odd.

It was a lose-lose situation for Randolph. Because of the amount of money the Mets have blown over the last few years, they want results now. When your players aren't capable of producing, you get the axe.

He'll catch on elsewhere as a manager eventually. He's too smart of a person not too. But doing so at 3am EDT is pretty shady, especially after a win.

Yep, but like the Yankees, they'll go down the toilet in the near future.

You got to love when the owner of your ball club comes out and says that the decision to fire the manager rests solely on the GM. I think the Wilpons are sending a message to Minaya saying that if these guys don't produce, you'll be out of a job as well...

Omar Minaya spins like a top
Fred Wilpon played a too-obvious hand yesterday, feeding into this "perception" frenzy when he said: "Omar is in charge. It was his decision."
What a mess that situation is.

I had a similar thought when I read that.
