JLC Brings Up Lito Again
I mentioned Lito Sheppard a few days ago as a possibility and indeed it was. Despite the fact the Eagles are in the NFC East, Philadelphia has contacted Washington several times about Sheppard in recent weeks - more or less since the combine - knowing the Redskins have a need at CB.
The Redskins rebuffed Philly, however, league sources said. They do not want to do a huge contract right now, they have concerns about Sheppard's ability to stay healthy and they are not inclined to give up high draft picks right now.
Lito Sheppard/Other Stuff - Redskins Insider |

good to know that we can stand our ground

Re: JLC Brings Up Lito Again
Wow. Re-re-restraint?! Interesting.
I wonder if a la Walker, they release Sheppard and we can get him without giving up anything but cap space. |
Re: JLC Brings Up Lito Again
If they are asking for a 2nd rounder or less (which, in our case, is a late second rounder), I'd take them up on their offer. Lito is a good (albeit overrated) corner who is signed to a very manageable contract.

Re: JLC Brings Up Lito Again
Do we really want Sheppard? I mean there is a reason that the Eagles are trying to off-load him to us...
|
Re: JLC Brings Up Lito Again
He is definitely a good corner, but I'd rather keep our draft picks. I think the Eagles will find a suitor for him, although if he was released I wouldn't mind picking him up for a reasonable price.

I wouldn't give them a 2nd. We can get a pretty good DB even in the 2nd round. And I wouldn't want them to have two second-rounders. |

they just signed Asante Samuel |
Re: JLC Brings Up Lito Again
I agree with SmootSmack, I would not want to give a 2nd round pick to a divisional rival. Esp. not the Eagles. I do not think that Sheppard is worth a 2nd round pick. Look at how many people got mad here when the Redskins gave up a 2nd round pick for Portis, and I do not think that Sheppard is anywhere near as good as Portis...

Re: JLC Brings Up Lito Again
if we are gonna use an early draft pic, use it on Dante Hall
|
Re: JLC Brings Up Lito Again
If we're going to take a corner in the second round then we can get grab Antione Cason or Tracy Porter. Both look like a good fit for our system. Also theres the possiblity that the Skins will draft Rogers-Cromartie, but I doubt the Redskins spend a first round pick on a DB four times in a row.

Well with Lloyd gone the team needs a new distraction. :) Lol, he obviously meant DeAngelo Hall, but if he wants to trade a 1st round pick for a #4 WR then go ahead. |
Re: JLC Brings Up Lito Again
Lito just isn't worth it. Sure he would be if he were a FA, but we need those picks.
People say "if they are willing to dump him, then we shouldn't listen" all the time, but they are very rarely correct. You don't have to look far to find successes. Randy Moss being a perfect example. Just cause a player is not performing at his max with a team doesn't mean a change of scenary and a change of teammates can't do wonders for people. Sometimes one man's trash is another man's treasure. |

That is odd that they'd want to trade him within the division. There's got to be more than meets the eye here. They know how good Springs is and must not think much of Lito. I'm glad we're not making the trade. Since they're coming to the Skins trying to trade Lito, wouldn't we have the upper hand? Why do they want high draft picks as well? Why not try to tack on some Iggles draft picks for the trade? |
