Penalties not being called in tonights game?
I just saw the flag get thrown for a horse collar tackle in the Jags and steelers game
that same exact tackle happened so many times in our game....Im wondering where the calls were for it..bout ripped CP and TC's Shirt off. |
Re: Penalties not being called in tonights game?
difference is that the shirt was grabbed and not inside the pads. If the shirt is pulled it's legal.

I'm actually pretty sure they changed that this season to include the back of the jersey, whether or not it's called is another story. I haven't seen it this year. |

Exactly. We had opportunities to put the Seahawks away and we never did. Pretty sums up our entire season......so close, but yet so far. |
Re: Penalties not being called in tonights game?
Im not saying they did Im just saying....What was the difference here?

All players are prohibited from grabbing the inside collar of the back of the shoulder pads or jersey, or the inside collar of the side of the shoulder pads or jersey, and immediately pulling down the runner. This does not apply to a runner who is in the tackle box or to a quarterback who is in the pocket. Previously, the “horse-collar” tackle rule did not include the back of the shoulder pads or jersey. This increases the scope of the rule. Penalty: Loss of 15 yards Scout.com: NFL Rule changes for 2006 |

We had our chances but our D has being held all night

Re: Penalties not being called in tonights game?
One thing that has to happen for a horsecollar to be called, is the player being tackled must be jerked down immediately. Think Roy Williams here. If the player is not jerked down and goes down after the initial "horsecollar", a penalty is not supposed to be called.
Maybe I'm thinking about a different play here, but the "horsecollar" on Collins did not bring him down quick enough. I think he took another couple of steps up into the pocket after being grabbed from behind. |
Re: Penalties not being called in tonights game?
I'm tired of seeing WRs get away with pushes and grabs that give them space, calls that are always made when defenders do the same thing. 2 cases in point from today's games:
On the key 3rd down conversion with the Skins up 14-13, Seattle's Nate Burleson clearly shoved Springs with both hands as he went up for the ball, creating just enough separation to make the play. On Pittsburgh's go ahead score in their game, Hines Ward jerked the DB's head down by the face mask, yet when the guy grabbed him, defensive PI was called. I've been bitching about this all year, particularly with Randy Moss constantly pushing off. I hope the competition committee instructs refs to start enforcing excessive pushing by offensive receivers next season, because it has really gotten out of hand. |

Never happen. Especially since he's a media loved patriot now. |
Re: Penalties not being called in tonights game?
One penalty that was called that realy hurt us was that fluky call on Leigh Torrence on the punt return that set up Seattle's first TD

Re: Penalties not being called in tonights game?
Collins arm was going forward on one "called" fumble.
The ground cannot cause a fumble on another play, but indeed, we lost it. da-haux consistantly interferred with our WRs with no-calls. By my count, at least five missed calls. The above did not cause the Collins picks, however. |
Re: Penalties not being called in tonights game?
I didn't think Landry was down by contact either. he dove, made contact with the opponent, caught the ball. No one touched him AFTER he caught it.

He fell on the guys foot which made down by contact. I knew that was coming back. |
