maybe Gregg Williams isnt all that bad
He doesnt have a lot of support here to put it mildly. Perhaps its becuase my emotions are going a mile a minute this week. That being said after reading and watching everything I could get my hands on this week I think I misjudged Gregg Williams as a coach and a person. I know most here do not want him to succeed Joe Gibbs but I have to admit, from what Ive wathced and read this week, I would be comfortable with his as the head coach.
You think its just the emotions talking? |
Re: maybe Gregg Williams isnt all that bad
Gregg Williams has done a phenomenal job this year. Last year? Not so much.
We have some time before we have to replace our current head coach. I would wager that if we had to decide tomorrow, Williams would and should get it. |
Re: maybe Gregg Williams isnt all that bad
I've liked GW from day 1. I'd like to see him succeed Gibbs, no question.

With the exception of last season, Gregg Williams's defenses have been the teams strength since Gibbs returned to coaching. I look forward to his getting a chance to succeed Gibbs. If nothing else, working with Gibbs has given Williams a chance to see firsthand how Gibbs treats his players, which hopefully has rubbed off. |

I agree, seems like every week that goes by he gets more and more humble |
Re: maybe Gregg Williams isnt all that bad
Watching GW stare down Moss after fumbling or ripping guys for screwing up made me a fan. I think he needs the patriarch Gibbs (or someone similar a la Jeff Fisher) to be able to be successful as the tough love guy. I'd love to see him succeed Coach Joe (in two years after back to back trophies).

Re: maybe Gregg Williams isnt all that bad
Williams couldn't find a much better guy to learn from in training to be a head coach again. I think he will almost certainly be the next man to lead this team. Hopefully he'll do better than Gibbs' last successor.

Re: maybe Gregg Williams isnt all that bad
GW has always had support But when you have a bad year things turn very quickly, thats sports, people get over it and if he has a good year they will forget about the bad one...I still like the Guy helluva coach I say

This week certainly, everyone in Redskins Park has been through a most humbling experience. |
Re: maybe Gregg Williams isnt all that bad
Last year the defense lost a lot of players and this year he simplified the defense
He is the BEST
This week certainly, everyone in Redskins Park has been through a most humbling experience.
|

agreed but go back into the video archives from the last few years and he is not the same coach. He seems more level headed, more on point, more humble this year. Im sure spending time under Gibbs has a lot to do with it. At this point I hope he is the guy . . . .hell look at bellicheck in his first go round |
Re: maybe Gregg Williams isnt all that bad
I think GW has definitely come a long way since he came here, and I can't see him not getting another chance as a head coach in this league some day.

Re: maybe Gregg Williams isnt all that bad
Love the GW. Hope he is our next coach after Joe. But Joe will be back next year.

I think ripping would have done some good rather than bragging on them every game. Id try harder if I knew an ass chewing was coming on a nation wide scale. If a player knows there will be no ramifications for bone head playing, why give 100% as long as the checks still come.Granted no one has a clue what goes on in the locker room,I'm just referring to on the field where the players and the world can see. |
Re: maybe Gregg Williams isnt all that bad
I definintely like GW as a defensive coordinater. Whether or not he'll make a good head coach is still to be determined, but I'd have no problem giving him a shot once Gibbs leaves. I, for one, do not know who calls the offensive plays right now for the Redskins. However, they do look Gibbs-esq because they're so conservative. And, from what I've heard, this causes GW to call less blitzes, and play a more conservative defense. If GW is the head coach and whoever starts calling plays on offense starts going for the kill, I think our defense could be really nasty, and we'll start causing more turnovers. Thoughts?
