One day after high ankle sprain, Will Whitticker is released

Before announcing the results of the MRI on Will Whitticker's injured ankle, the OL was released. Obviously wasn't good. I was kind of hoping he was going to be a bright spot. From Redskins.com practice blog:

Seems like if he could only keep his weight at 325 instead of 355 he would be looking at a legit NFL career with job security and lots and lots of cash.

The only thing I can think is that 1) the MRI was ugly- maybe fractures or tearing, and/or 2) Stephon Heyer really is that good....

Evidence that the NFL union is weaker than the MLB union

Just goes to show that the NFL is a business and a rough one at that.

Whit=guard
Heyer=tackle

Must have been an ugly MRI. I was really hoping he was going to turn out to be quality depth, oh well.

Yeah this isn't that surprising, to bad though I really thought Whitticker would have provided really solid depth on the line.

I just heard on Comcast that they signed Dee Brown (RB from KC) after they cut Whitticker.

Yeah me to.
It makes sense if they just want to have someone that can run the plays in a preseason game or two - since they said that Betts, Sellers, and Blaylock are banged up.

not a great surprise but a rather large disappointment, no pun intended.

He really sounded like a guy that might come into his own & at least make the 2nd team. Some guys get it together after a few years & mature, he sounded like one of them. The coaches said he was playing well in camp. Really a shame for him & the team.

Suddenly our o-line is making me nervous. It's probably our best unit on the team w/the starters, but last in depth. We have better depth on the d-line even.
