tree removal?
 

Does anyone have any idea of how much it costs to have a tree removed? I've got a couple of pain in the ass pine trees I'd like to take down. The needles just make such a mess of my driveway and front yard it's not even funny.

I don't know how much it costs to take a couple of pine trees down, but my neighbor paid in excess of $500 to have this big ass tree that probably had a diameter of 6 feet down. I can't remember if it was more than $500 or $1000 though, I just went with 500 because i know they paid at least that much though. All i can suggest is to call a tree removal company and ask for an estimate.

if its 6 feet in diameter thats like the size of a nearly full grown sycamore or some kind of oak, that would be in excess of 1000 dollars more than likely...

but if its just a couple of pines if you can climb a tree, or have good aim and a baseball... get yourself a pully, some stakes, and a lot of rope, hack that baby down yourself, that is of course if you can get a clear path for it to land. Not only do you feel like the ultimate badass after giving the finger to mother nature but you get to have fun with a chainsaw. Pines are fairly easy to cut yourself even if you dont have a chainsaw since the wood is soft, the job will get a little sticky though, literally. If you dont want to do it yourself a fairly large tree can cost up to like 1200 dollars depending on who you go on and thats an extremely rough estimate. Most places wont add in the cost of timber removal, but its easy to get rid of that yourself. It all depends on the size of the tree, type of tree and the area around the house they have to work with so its hard to give a close estimate without seeing it first.

It can be done cheaper. Buy a chainsaw, safety goggles, gloves, ladder, shovel, pick axe, and some grass seed. Now you have just eliminated the problem, and stocked up on firewood for next winter.

It costs :
1 case of beer,
1 drunk redneck relative,
1 chainsaw,
1 house and/or car.
It really depends on the size of the tree, and the time of the year. Best time to get them cut by someone else would be during the winter (offseason). You can talk most people down though.

I have a side note for this. I went outside last weekend with a six pack of PBR and an ax and totally devastated all these bitch ass Autumn Olives in my backyard. How do I get the root system to die?

That really is a good home remedy.

If you looking for something off-the-shelf then Roundup works very well. The ingredient you need to be looking for is glyphosate. Just be super careful when using it because it kills any plant that it comes in contact with.

Insurance companies sometimes pay partial on the removal as they won't have to pay to remove it from the house after the next wind storm. If they are real close to the house, it costs more, as they have to be "topped" and taken down in sections to assure not hitting the house in the process. Multiple $100's

Guess I'm stuck with the trees for now. I don't want to pay out the ass for this and I certainly don't meet the redneck qualifications to do it myself.

Swap services with a local tree removal company. Offer to startup a brochure-style website for their company in exchange for them removing your trees.
