Am I the only one really happy about this? The guy was just flash never once in two years said anything that made sense and the biggest thing he brought to the table was his wardrobe. Sounds just like Micheal Irving, who I would like to see off ESPN.

I was never a Deion fan. And just seeing him was a constant reminder of one of our great FO blunders...

So now I don't have to wear sunglasses when watching pregame shows to shield my eyes from those horrible suits...

Like Irvin, Deion is a case of an athlete who says entertaining things at press conferences, so some television executive thinks he would be a great sports commentator.

When faced with talking about someone or something other than themselves, these guys run out of ammo awfully quickly.

He was too excited on Tv, but the the rest of that terrible CBS cast is so bland. It will be a mono-tone, boring show. The CBS pregame show will be even worse with out Deion.
Fox and ESPN are the only entertaining pregame shows.

I hope ESPN dont pick him up. That would be a disaster with playmaker and primetime hand and hand.

I don't know how true this is, but I was flipping through the channels and saw Deion on some infomercial, and he seems to hint that he was going to try to make a comeback. I can't stand this guy and his attitude...I hope he never has anything to do with football again.
I no longer watch the ESPN pregame show because of Irvin. Can't stand that twitchy little self proclaimed know it all. I only watch the Fox show now. I still don't know why ESPN fired a great analyst in Sharpe for that loser coke sniffer Irvin.

Wow, that's the first time I've heard that. That would make sense though. It just seemed like everyone liked Sharpe (ie: berman, Young etc), guess not.
But still why replace a "class act on the screen" in Sharpe for a some dope with a rap sheet longer than Bruce Smith's arm?

Supposedly the biggest problem with Sharpe was that he didn't have good relationships with current players and coaches so ESPN was limited in the interviews they could do. Irvin is ona much more cordial basis with current players so they could use that to their advantage. Sharpe didn't offer that. Sharpe is a great analyst though.

What I'm wondering is what Tom Jackson do during the off-season. I'm surprised to never hear from him. I would think especially during the draft he'd be a good analyst to have around.

I can't say ESPN makes the best personel choices all the time. Take for example the whole Rush Limbaugh catastrophe. I never did figure out how they came up with that idea.

ESPN exec #1: The show is good but it just needs something.

#2: Yeah, it needs someone who knows nothing about football, but is willing to say a bunch of half witted things anyway. Like he knows what he is talking about.

#3: Thats good, somebody who's a creep, a racist, and a drug adict. Someone the players of the NFL can really relate to.

#1: Yeah hes got to have no past exerience or knowledge of the game of football at all, but because of an overinflated ego is willing to make untrue, bold, and slanderous statements.

#2: I think I may know just the guy.

Well the Broncos have signed Byron Chamberlain, which could be in anticipation of Sharpe heading to CBS

I dont know why so many of you didnt like Deion. I thought he made the show. He brought character, a pimp wardrobe and a huge understanding of insight on all the players. It was more fun watching him then a boring player. Expecially when they talked about topics like players an drugs. i remember one time he started ranting about how its easy to do crack with all that money or somethign liek that. i thougth he was going to get fired

Regarding Michael Irvin:
I went to the season opener in Washington last year, with the ESPN crew working the pregame in the parking lot. The fans were absolutely merciless with Irvin - they were as bad as Philly fans (and that's saying a lot). Irvin handled himself with professionalism while facing strong personal attacks. Maybe you don't like his style (I don't particularly) or his substance (he's the weakest on ESPN, but not the weakest in the biz), but he's earned his chops.
