Cowboys beat Patriots, Dolphins, Saints to Price By John Clayton
ESPN.com

The Dallas Cowboys won the Peerless Price sweepstakes Saturday, reaching agreement on a one-year contract worth $2 million.

The Cowboys beat out the Patriots, Dolphins and Saints in a competitive couple days of recruiting and negotiating with Price, who was released by the Atlanta Falcons in the cutdown to 65 earlier in the week.

On Friday, the numbers were at the $1.5 million level. The Cowboys finished the negotiations Saturday afternoon by offering the wide receiver $2 million for the season, including $500,000 in a signing bonus.

Price sat in Jerry Jones' owners box during the Cowboys preseason finale against the Texans. Price had just visited with the Patriots and Dolphins, but the Cowboys continued pitching their team and coach Bill Parcells.

Price won't automatically be thrust into the starting lineup. He will compete at the split end position and possibly share time with starters Terry Glenn and Keyshawn Johnson. Patrick Crayton had beaten out Quincy Morgan for the No. 3 role, but that goes to Price unless he gets the opportunity to start.

Morgan might be among the team's final cuts.

Senior writer John Clayton covers the NFL for ESPN.com.

with or without price, the cowriods will finish no better than 25th offensively.

Go ahead. With that poor line and that ball chucking cement block (aka Bledsoe), I'd be surprised if the passing offense is any better than 20th. I also would not be surprised if Arrington ends another Dallas QB's career this season.

just because i hate the roids doesn't mean i am gonna say this is bad for them, i think it helps their team, i honestly don't think we have to worry about that douche of an offense against our D but it might help them against other teams. Nothing will happen if the statue doesn't start to move anyways

I agree; the signing helps the Cowboys. I also agree that we don't have to worry about the Cowboys offense.

One thing that's been constant with the cowboys.....no matter how bad their offense or defense may be, they ALWAYS find a way to step up their game and beat us. I hope this year will be a reversal-of-fortune for us.

Damn I was hopping anyone else would get Price with him teaming up with Bledsoe it could spell a revival in his career and trouble for us . He will be a very solid No3 reciever.

Re: Per ESPN News...Price a Cowboy

Price is an incredible addition to the Cowboys. He and Bledsoe work well together and when he's not a team's first WR. IE the Bills. Think of him being covered by Ade Jimoh. Thank god it won't be Rufus Brown!

You didnt worry about our offense with the likes of Anthony Wright, Chad Hutchinson, Quincy Carter and Vinny Testaverde either.

Bledsoe is better than any of these guys

Somehow, we still managed to score more points

Our offense sure hasnt gotten worse since last year either--

I'd be far more concerned on how you're going to put points on the board and Ramsey's decision making ability and keeping him upright in the pocket

But lets wait to discuss this next week when we can break things down--

Opening against the Bears and us isnt the easiest task

The Bears do bring a pass rush with Ogunleye and Harris

Im interested in seeing the Samuels/Ware matchup

Why is that? From what I've seen, our offensive line has made vast improvements this year.....From what I've seen and heard, I can't really say the same for the Cowboys' OL. I guess we will find out next week though.

Re: Per ESPN News...Price a Cowboy

i think carolina and pittsburg have more pressure than chicago, and we handled them fine... baltimore had some success cause they've got REALLY good coverage as well, but right now, since we don't play any great Ds outside of the broncos and philly, i think our oline will look pretty good this year (barring injuries).

Re: Per ESPN News...Price a Cowboy

Our OL vs CHIs DL will be a challenge. Every team in the NFL this year (and every year) will present a challenge. You can't underestimate anyone. Offense, defense, special teams, caoching. :oink:
