Peerless Price a Cowboy?

Normally I wouldn't start a thread based on a report posted on profootballtalk.com, but the Dallas Morning News is corroborating the site's report (below) that the Cowboys have an interest in signing Peerless Price.

The Dallas Morning News reports on its web site that free-agent receiver Peerless Price has talked with the Cowboys about a possible relationship.

"I think he's a pretty good player," coach Bill Parcells said of Price. "We’re just trying to turn over every rock."

Patrick Crayton currently is the third receiver behind Keyshawn Johnson and Terry Glenn. Price likely would bump Crayton to No. 4 -- and bump current No. 4 Quincy Morgan out of town.

Price had his best season in 2002 with current Cowboys quarterback Drew Bledsoe throwing passes to him. Bledsoe signed with the Cowboys in the offseason.

It'd be ironic, in our view, if Price were to sign with the Cowboys. His experience as a great No. 2 but a dud as a No. 1 wideout has drawn comparisons to former Dallas receiver Alvin Harper, who was a stud as second fiddle to Michael Irvin but worthless as to the go-to guy in Tampa.

In Buffalo, Price flourished in an offense that featured go-to receiver Eric Moulds. Though an aging Keyshawn ain't quite the same as Mike Irvin in his prime, Price clearly wouldn't be the No. 1 in Dallas.

And that might be the best bet for Price at this stage of his career.

Re: Peerless Price a Cowboy?

oi. he's certainly dangerous at no.3

jeez, couldn't any other division have picked up McCants and Price?

Re: Peerless Price a Cowboy?

An unknown receiver like Patrick Crayton proved to be very dangerous against us in Dallas last year. You can bet that Price, along with every other Cowboy will step up big time against Washington.

For once, I'd like to see Washington players do the very same against Dallas.

Re: Peerless Price a Cowboy?

Honestly, there's no receiver I really worry about in the NFL besides TO and Moss. Just as Beemnseven pointed out, you can get burned by anyone. We shut down TO a whole game and then against the Cowboys one pass to an unknown beats us, it's always a crap shoot. Now if we play OUR game with OUR D and OUR O, I don't think we have anything to worry about.

Good points.

If we're worried about Peerless Price the season is already lost.

Re: Peerless Price a Cowboy?

I think it's just the fact that we don't like anyone going to teams in our division. Granted, we play them two times a year, but none of us had the freakouts we're having now when Moss went to the Raiders and we DO play them this year (at least once ;) ).

TheMalcolmConnection 09-01-2005 08:57 AM

Re: Peerless Price a Cowboy?

And honestly, Keyshawn and Peerless are very similar. It'll just give Taylor someone else to smack in the mouf.

MTK 09-01-2005 08:59 AM

Re: Peerless Price a Cowboy?

I'm just happy that for once it's other teams in the division scrambling to pick up someone else's garbage.

We've been garbage pickers for years. Nice to see that come to an end.

Re: Peerless Price a Cowboy?

The wide reciever rebirth is pretty rare in the nfl. Once they start going downhill it's like a degenerative condition. I guess he could have been completely misused in Atlanta? I do lilke the chemistry they got going in that Dallas wr corps. What a bunch of prima donna has bens!

Re: Peerless Price a Cowboy?

Amen to that... we don't need anything else. I think we're set.

I'm taking my son, son-in-law, and my son's Father-in-law to the Raidaz game. My son-in-law insists he will wear a Raidaz jersey. We all plan to razz him all the way up and all the way back down the road!

Considering how well our defense handled Moss and T.O. last year, even those two shouldn't worry us that much.

Re: Peerless Price a Cowboy?

I like Peerless Price as a wideout (Go Vols!) but he doesn't really scare me as a potential Cowboy. We've got 13 dbs on the roster, surely one of them will be able to knock the beejeezus out of Price.

Im bittersweet about this potential signing

On the positive, Price, along ith Glenn have been 2 of the 3 (Moulds) most prolific WR's Bledsoe thrown to in his career

Considering how injury prone Glenn has been, price has the ability to step up to the #2 or 3 WR very quickly

BUT...

Crayton has been the best WR for us in TC this year

If the Price signing knocks him down to the 4th slot, this signing is a mistake

Price is not a ST guy either so Crayton could very well be the #4 guy because of his ST ability

Ahhh maybe, i mean we have springs covering johnson, and harris covering glen, carlos rogers is our nickle back and he would cover price, i think thats a good matchup

So who's covering Witten?

Either Marcus Washington, Arrington or Sean Taylor.

Marcus Washington, LaVar Arrington, or Sean Taylor (it's rare to see corners covering tight ends). Any one of those guys shouldn't have much of a problem covering Wittem.

That's amazing. I was about to add that this can only be the case if Sean Taylor is wearing burgundy and gold, and not bright orange. But I decided not to, otherwise, you'd have beaten me to it!

Yeah, that pro bowler Witten is a pretty easy guy to cover

Well, since everyone's covered, I guess we shouldnt pass the ball :biggthump

sean's won single coverage over moss, TO, and chad johnson in his rookie season, and I doubt witten is as big a threat.

uh, gotta do a lot better than that man.

Marcus Washington or LaVar Arrington would be covering him IN the Pro Bowl as well if he was AFC. Sean too, next year if not this one.

You've gotta love that breakdown: Taylor, Arrington, Springs, Portis, Moss. No way TASPM comes in and steals your Moderatorship, your "Symbol", your numbers of posts, your insight into all things B&G, and of course, your left-over "schmack" from Smootsmack!

Welcome TASPM!

Im serious...

considering how things have gone between the Skins and the Boys since November of '97...Well...I dont know how we can compete.

I can say this honestly...Im looking for a Skins/Boys rivalry...a reason to hate the Skins again

For you guys its easy...the losing and the way you've lost--last year and the Monday nite game 4 years ago and especially opening day of '99 blowing a 3 TD lead in the 4th quarter and losing in OT on an Ismail bomb come to mind quickly...

well... its the way I feel about the Eagles

Instead of Cowboys fans looking @ Skins week and just ho-humming it and saying "Well..here's another win"

Watching Daniel Snyder write definitely does have some entertainment value

I havent felt as good about this Cowboys team since '91

A great year for you guys if I remember correctly ;)

illdefined 09-02-2005 10:04 PM

Re: Peerless Price a Cowboy?

however you may feel about your team, you should be focusing on avoiding our team's biggest strength. especially if you're going to throw around the term pro-bowl.

feela good to be welcomed, and yeah our names r pretty similar lol

Well i mean we have sean taylor, and to me he is one of the or THE best covering safety, hes shown he can cover TO, Moss, Keyshawn Johnson, so covering witten shouldnt be a problem. By the way, im getting sick of ppl saying Roy Williams is a harder hitter then sean taylor....

what list, another "pro bowl" threat? but he's not quite pro-bowl is he? fine, pick any another of our top-ranked defenders to cover him too.

while you're at it, pick another fight. one you can win. talk smack about our unproven offense all you want but our defense has the proven respect of the entire league. one touchdown more and some longer drives/time of possession from our offense last year and the record would've been very different.
