FedEx Field on Draft Day!

I know there's a thread going on about this in another section, but I don't think it asks who is actually going to go!

Is there anyone here that plans on going to this event, if so maybe setup a place/time to meet up. I'm not sure if I can go yet, but it sounds as if it could be fun. If you're interested, please post here!

joecrisp 04-05-2004 05:47 PM

I'll definitely be there, Daseal. I plan on getting there early, but I don't know if we'll stay for the whole thing. Of course, it is on a Saturday, so maybe we'll stick it out and enjoy all the festivities.

I'm game for meeting up with any Warpathers. They're supposed to have a big tent sale outside, plus an XBox arcade somewhere, so maybe we could meet at one of those two spots. I'd love to take somebody on in a Madden matchup!

Daseal 04-05-2004 05:59 PM

Why stay the whole time, I mean our pick should be over in less than an hour!

If I go I'd love to meet up with some of the faces behind the avatars!

Beemnseven 04-05-2004 06:05 PM

I'd love to go, but we're expecting our first baby at the end of April. In fact, I'm arranging to have the Draft on TV in the delivery room while the little guy makes his entry into the world.

For whoever goes -- have fun while I help my wife bring another die-hard Skins fan into the world!

That's awesome...congratulations

joecrisp 04-05-2004 06:15 PM

Wow! Congratulations, Beems! Much props to you for the Draft TV in the delivery room idea! Very nice!

Daseal, you make a good point about the length of our draft this year. It kind of makes me hope we trade down and pick up a couple extra picks... just so I won't have to make that 2.5 hour drive up to FedEx for about an hour's worth of draft time! But heck, with Coach Gibbs expected to make an appearance after the Skins make their picks, it might be worth sticking around!

JoeGibbsIsBack 04-05-2004 06:45 PM

yeah, bit too much of a 2 1/2 hour drive for me if its only for one pick on day one. who knows though, i've got a ton of family in d.c. so i could very well be there anyway.

RedskinRat 04-05-2004 07:34 PM

Beems, couldn't you drag the wife to FedEx Field? What could be a greater start in life than being born on the 50 yard line?

Congrats to your family. I hope the baby is healthy, happy and a Redskins fan for life.

The only thing better would be to have Coach Gibbs deliver him....lol

congrats Beem :food-smil

Beemnseven 04-06-2004 04:41 PM

Thanks guys! I actually have enough trouble dragging my wife in front of the TV to watch a game -- but what the hell I'll ask her anyway!! I mean really, what better place to deliver a baby than at the 50 yard line at FedEx Field on Draft Day!

Now if only I could find some Dallas Cowboy diapers ... :laughing-

squrrelco3 04-08-2004 02:15 PM

Draft Day

Man I would absolutely LOVE to be there...unfortunately I am a broadcaster for the radio station here at Old Dominion University and we have a baseball game that day that I will be doing...but I'll be watching on TV....make us proud you guys that are going...and even if you don't like the pick don't boo like Philly fan did McNabb a few years ago...HTTR.

Skins fan 44 04-08-2004 03:42 PM

It would be about a 12 hour ride for me and I dont want to for just one pick. Well if Joe Gibbs is going to be there. I better not. Have fun with out me.

JoeRedskin 04-08-2004 03:52 PM

Hmmmmm. I know I am new to the board but it would be fun to meet folks. As I wear a small hand-cuff on my left ring finger, my ability to attend is tied directly to the whims of she who runs my life.

Can we make sure to keep this post bumped up so that we can get updates? Well either here or in the "meet-up" forum room.

Daseal 04-08-2004 05:26 PM

Well, so far I haven't exactly seen the outpouring of interest I first thought would be around.

SmootSmack 04-08-2004 05:49 PM

I'm trying to make it out there but I just don't know how my schedule's going to be yet

Daseal 04-08-2004 06:12 PM

Yeah, same with me Smoot. Kind of a rough weekend for school! Thanks for the sticky btw!

RedskinRat 04-08-2004 06:32 PM

I'm in California, so if I can scrape the $$$ for a flight it would be better used on a game.

Be careful with TV in the delivery room Beem's, the doctor may be a jet's fan, and you know how dumb they are, your child's saftey comes first! LOL

CONGRADULATION'S!

BrudLee 04-08-2004 10:32 PM

Congrats, Beemnseven. My second is due in June, and you will be surprised how much you're life changes. Mostly for the better.

Redskins_P 04-08-2004 10:36 PM

I'll be there Saturday April 24th. I'm not sure what time it starts though.

SkinsRock 04-09-2004 08:41 AM

My wife and I are planning on going.

JoeRedskin 04-09-2004 03:02 PM
Congrats, Beemnseven. My second is due in June, and you will be surprised how much you're life changes. Mostly for the better.
Congrats to both. And Brud, boy are u right about changes. My son is turning one May 12th. Catching a smile from him in the morning makes work that much more bearable.

Hope we can all make it the 24th

Sammy Baugh Fan 04-09-2004 04:48 PM

I'll be there dewds!
I printed my invitation so I would be eligible to win the signed Joe Gibbs Football.

My plans are to come up for the first couple of hours and enjoy the fans who are excited about this year's season.

Hey Daseal Dewd, just pick a time and place and I'll be there wearing my 1945 throwback jersey and ready to party with you guys.

If it starts at 11 maybe we could meet in the parking lot or at a certain gate at quarter till. What do you think guys?

Maybe Joecrisp could make us some fake Press Passes.

HEY!!!! I just remembered my friend STU's cousin is head grounds keeper or in charge of Stadium Operations....maybe we could geta tour or sneek in someplace cool. I'll ask and do my homework on that.

No fumbling guys....let's do this!!! :coach:

peace

Daseal 04-09-2004 05:05 PM

Sammy Baugh is excited, that's what I like to see! I will be finding out in the next few days if I can go for sure! Hopefully I can and we'll try to work out a time and place!

SmootSmack 04-09-2004 06:20 PM

If I'm able to make it out there you better believe I'll be wearing my warpath shirt

SKINSnCANES 04-12-2004 03:58 PM

If I buy one of those shirts is it setup so money will go to the site?

MTK 04-12-2004 04:10 PM
If I buy one of those shirts is it setup so money will go to the site?
Items bought from our shop generate a minimal amount of revenue, it's more for spreading the word about the site.

SKINSnCANES 04-12-2004 04:25 PM

yea thats what I figured, Ive setup things like that before and you usually get a dollar, mabye two. But spreading the word is always a good thing.

Riggo44 04-12-2004 07:36 PM

I wish I could go! I would love to be there to see Gibbs! Have fun guy's.

Sammy Baugh Fan 04-15-2004 09:31 AM

Hey anyone that wants can jot down my cell phone number and ring me that day so we might be able to meet. I'll be taking my Son and will be there for the first few hours for sure.

703-929-1035

My Son and I are very excited about this day and the season too. We want to get our picture with the 3 Lombardi Trophies before we get ANOTHER THIS YEAR!!!! lol

JudgeJebus 04-15-2004 01:26 PM

Is there a New York contingent interested in heading to the Garden for the actual draft? Does anyone know how that works (tickets, etc.)?

Sammy Baugh Fan 04-15-2004 02:29 PM

Draft Ticket information is here bro.

SKINSnCANES 04-15-2004 02:41 PM

damn, free admission. I would have never guessed that. If I was in NY it could be an exciting thing to go to. Of course its also one of those things that might be better watched at home.

JudgeJebus 04-15-2004 02:45 PM

Thanks, SBF. Will do.

SmootSmack 04-15-2004 10:32 PM

Ok, so where are we all meeting for this Saturday's WNBA draft? LOL.

I'm still trying to see if I can make it out to FedEx for the draft, is anyone thinking of being at DC's ESPNZone on draft day?

JoeRedskin 04-19-2004 04:54 PM

Okay guys - It's monday five days before the draft. What is "the Plan"? Right now, I am planning to be at FedEx but may not be there right at 11:00 (Draft starts at 1:00, right?).

If we are going to do a meet-up, we should pick a spot and have a place where Warpather's can check regularly for late-comers. Anyone bringing a sign or some other identifying item (A burning effigy of a cowboy perhaps?) so that we can easily identify each other?

I hope that some other of you guys can make it. I would love to actually connect faces to names. Of course, we might all turn out to be flaming a**holes in person, but it's a risk I am willing to take.

Daseal 04-19-2004 05:53 PM

Unfortunatly I have a football game myself and can't make it, but I definitly would love to have a "warpath day" at minicamp!

SKINSnCANES 04-19-2004 11:03 PM

my dads going to go, ill still be here in Miami. Ill tell him to look out for people with warpath shirts on though.

JoeRedskin 04-20-2004 08:58 AM

I thought the draft started at 1:00 p.m. Am I wrong? I can't seem to find confirmation of the starting time.

Summo 04-20-2004 09:40 AM
