I hate it. I was expecting a bronze statue and we got this. This FO blows the biggest donkey dick. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It’s a Nike store mannequin!

Re: ST memorial “statue”
This franchise apparently hates Sean Taylor.
JamF nailed it. Looks like they grabbed something from an outlet mall and threw a jersey on it. I'm gonna black out drunk with glitties in my mouth when this team is sold. |
Re: ST memorial “statue”
Wow what the fuck is that? It loos like something from Bloomingdales.

Sadly, it's a 100% guarantee they would fuck it up. There was a 0% chance this didn't happen. Snyder is a loser. As long as he is around, we will always be losers. |

Disgraceful

2 chances to be competent with honoring Taylor. Epic fails on both attempts. Snyder is poison. |

What in the actual fuck is that supposed to be?

The cheapest fucking attempt in the history of sports to "honor" someone . |
Re: ST memorial “statue”
I don't really have a better way to explain Snyder, other than he's just an evil POS. He's just a terrible terrible human being.
|
Re: ST memorial “statue”
how can you put something like that up and be serious? A Dicks model actually looks way better.
Those fuckers need to seriously STOP with the Sean Taylor stuff. If I were the family I would get a cease and desist against the team demanding no more honoring Sean. Classless losers. |

Foolish bastard is exploiting Sean Taylor's name. We've honored our fallen player enough. Snyder is milking it as much as he can. We'll soon be done with his ass. |
Re: ST memorial “statue”
Well it's exactly what the Taylor family asked for but apparently you guys think your opinions matter more.

Re: ST memorial “statue”
I saw on the pregame shows at statue, it was hard to tell what it looked like, but after seeing these pictures, I am appalled at how terrible it is, it’s shit like this that makes me not even want to root for this team.Somebody please please take Snyder away from us

JFC they can't even set up a proper system to lift the curtain and have a decent unveiling...

Unbelievable. It literally is a metal pole for a head with a uniform on it. That belongs in the team store. |
Re: ST memorial “statue”
If davy is correct about the Taylor family's wish then the team did the right thing by honoring their wish, regardless of what we all think about it.

I find it real hard to believe the Taylor family said we want a faceless wire mannequin with soccer cleats and a mismatched uniform, but what do I know? I can’t find any link that says they wanted that. |
Re: ST memorial “statue”
What I do find is that they were involved throughout the process. However that doesn’t mean they had artistic control of the mannequin. Im sure had someone said guys we have commissioned this artist to do a bronze statue of Sean it would not have been met with “no we want a faceless mannequin in soccer cleats with a reebok shirt and nike pants. “.
|
Re: ST memorial “statue”
Not trying to defend this but nobody ever said it was going to be a statue, they said a memorial. And if the family signed off on it I’m perfectly fine with it.
I’d rather focus on the fact we’re 7-5 and in series playoff contention. |
Re: ST memorial “statue”
Personally I think they should have used the TR 36 mannequin

Re: ST memorial “statue”
LANDOVER, Md., November 22, 2022 – The Washington Commanders will honor Sean Taylor on the 15th Anniversary of his passing during the team's Week 12 home matchup versus the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, November 27 at 1 p.m. In honor of a life and legacy that will forever shape the franchise, key activations include the reveal of the Sean Taylor Memorial installation, launch of the limited-edition Sean Taylor Legacy Project merchandise line, and special "21" helmet decals to be worn by Commanders players.
Headlining the day, the team will reveal the Sean Taylor Memorial installation pregame at 11:45 a.m. on the main concourse outside of section 132. This reveal is the culmination of the Sean Taylor Memorial Project, launched on Sean's birthday earlier this year that provided fans an opportunity to pay tribute to one of the most beloved players in franchise history. Sunday also will mark the official launch of the Sean Taylor Legacy Project limited-edition merchandise line that was designed and inspired by Sean Taylor's daughter, Jackie Taylor. The collection includes a jersey, sweatshirts, T-shirts, and hats. The line will be available at the Commanders Team Store, A Fanatics Experience at FedExField, as well as online by visiting store.commanders.com. All proceeds from this merchandise launch will benefit gun violence prevention initiatives. "Sean's life was tragically cut short but his impact continues to reverberate through our Burgundy & Gold family," said Co-Owners and Co-CEOs Dan and Tanya Snyder. "This Sunday, on the 15th anniversary of his passing, we honor one of our greats and his legacy by unveiling a permanent installation, so his memory is always with us when we take the field on gameday." Additionally, as part of the NFL's My Cause, My Cleats annual initiative, select cleats will be on display in Legends Plaza and on suite levels throughout the game. Commanders players and coaches will wear the cleats in the team's Week 13 matchup at the New York Giants. A QR code will be attached to each cleat case for fan viewing and for fans to bid on cleats of their choosing. As a tribute to Sean Taylor, Miami-based custom sneaker designer Soles by Sir designed a pair of cleats in Sean's honor that will be featured in the My Cause, My Cleats display in Legends Plaza. https://www.commanders.com/news/washington-commanders-to-reveal-sean-taylor-memorial-installation I was expecting an art installation created/designed by Seans daughter ... but it seems his daughter jackie designed the clothes that is being sold/launched to support the St foundation. -------- Want to support Sean and his family? Go buy some of his daughters gear. |
Re: ST memorial “statue”
It looks like a skeletonized version of the old NFL Blitz mascot
|
Re: ST memorial “statue”
I don't blame Snyder for this I blame Jason Wright. He botched the name change reveal and now this memorial. It seems to me that Wright's job requires attention to detail and he seems deficient in that department. IMO as long as Wright is in his current position the organization will continue to botch events.

Re: ST memorial “statue”
His daughter loved the soccer cleats and it was the most authentic part for her. I hope the family is happy with this, regardless if i think its fucking weak sauce.
RIP, 21 |

See IMO that is what he did. Times are hard for him so appease the mass's with a "Sean Taylor tribute". Sean Taylor was a great player no question and not debatable. It just seems that when shit hits the fans there is a tribute to Sean Taylor of some sort. |

Couple things on this whole Sean Taylor thing.. First of all Pork you are right, the team has honored ST plenty. I mean if we want to be real here, they have honored him more than the Cards have Pat Tillman and the Lakers have for Kobe Bryant. I hate to be that guy because I loved Sean just like the rest of us but they need to let it rest now. Unfortunately people are shot and killed in this country daily, the only reason why this team keeps doing this is ALL SNYDER trying to win over the fan base one last time on his way out. As for the manikin or whatever that is , it looks like shit.. Literally looks like something from Dicks sporting goods. The Jersey is a NIKE jersey and the pants are Reebok LMAO, that is embarrassing. I get it they prob don't have the game worn jersey but damn at least have Reebok make you one... Overall though this needs to be put to rest after this season. |

I'm not a fan of the memorial, I mean just do the right fucking thing and have a statue built if it really means that much to you, but I can't hate on it too much if his family likes it. That's what really matters. In the end though, you are right. Snyder is trying to appease an apathetic fanbase by grasping the easiest straws, which is playing on our love for ST21. This team is 6-1 in its' last 7 and there were so many Falcons fans in the stadium last week you could hear cheers when they had a big play. |
This team is 6-1 in its' last 7 and there were so many Falcons fans in the stadium last week you could hear cheers when they had a big play.
That is the clearest indication yet how loathed Snyder is. His team is playing quite well and is entertaining. Attendance still is terrible and road teams' fans come to stadium abundantly. Atlanta doesn't even have a big fanbase. Attendance in the future will be interesting for all things considered. I know the weather sucked yesterday but expected far more Commanders' fans. Wrong.

Re: ST memorial “statue”
I’m not buying the “if his family likes it then it’s okay” thing. This is not Taylor’s family’s tribute, it’s the team’s tribute, designed to inspire the fans and burnish the franchise legacy. Of course the family should have approval rights, but the team should do something classy and inspirational or nothing at all. It’s a form of pandering, and the whole thing is tasteless no matter what the family thinks.

Great post. This effort was nothing better than an absolute fucking embarrassment. And this is on the heels of the Porta-Potty Fiasco. This franchise continues to disrespect Sean and his family. And until I see a link that shows that his family approved of this wire mannequin, I won't believe this is what they envisioned. Nike jersey, Reebok pants, soccer cleats, absurd. A Snyder classic. Build the man a statue or just let him RIP. |
