Giants post season ending loss thread
My biggest issue with this game is how unprepared the team looked.
Sloppy turnovers, stupid penalties, D not able to really step up passed the couple first possessions until late in the game... Coming off the bye week, that reeked of the Jay Gruden. Also hate to pin an injury on the injured guyquality but Kyle Allen has to have better pocket awareness, he ran right into that... Gotta love the fight to come back and have a chance, but this team is not the one to actually have a down 20 to 3 comeback W. Also hate the fact our all 1 rounders Dline seemed to produce less pressure than their front 4. Told you guys they were legit, but at some point this D is going to have to look like what we think they are. |

It’s hard to hate on the DL because getting pressure on the QBs has been a strong suit for us. The difference is , the QBs we face are getting the ball out quickly.
Coaching is ok, they can only do so much with a shit roster. Offense- Terry and AG are the only legit stars in this whole side of the ball. OL is decent and better than expected but we don’t have a TE1 or WR2. QB play- Kyle was doing a solid job but he was never going to take us anywhere. Alex plays scared and he made 2 horrible throws on the last 2 drives that killed us. QB play is so vital in todays NFL , this isn’t like the old days where u can win with a defense and running game. People were hating on Miami for benching Fitz but it’s paying off, They are 2-0 with Tua and he doesn’t make the boneheaded decisions Fitz does. This draft class is deep with QB talent, we have to select one in the top 10. |

That was a Gruden hallmark, I really don't want it to be a Rivera hallmark too. Also I never want to hear another ill word said about Daniel Jones on this forum. He might be a garbage qb but he's 4-0 against us in his career, and I feel like we've never successfully gotten him out of rhythm or forced turnovers out of him the way he's known for against other teams. |

Watching the young QBs around the league and dreaming that we had one of those guys .. Tua,Kyler, Herbert, Patrick, Josh ..

Re: Giants post season ending loss thread
They've been unprepared after a bye for years now. They should have won the game, if only Logan falls on the ball and same goes for Wright. They need to bring Bryce Love and play him, same goes for AGG and Charles. Let's see what we got, running the ball 9 times in a game doesn't cut it.

Is it Covid or what? I guess I shouldn’t be surprised because this team has sucked for so long but I’ve never seen this amount of disinterest in this team

Until the team actually gets a legit QB I won’t really give a damn. It’s pointless

Re: Giants post season ending loss thread
I thought the D played fine, well enough to win. Alex played well until those two terrible INTs towards the end. I wish they had tried to run the ball more... Either way, it's hard to overcome 5 turnovers, I don't care who the opponent is.

But they kinda disappeared for quite some time during the first half. The Giants had over 100 yards rushing in the first QTR IIRC. And Alfred Morris looked like his 2012 self. D is not the issue with this team, but at some point I feel like if Jack Del Rio is tweeting we got the best D in the division we're allowed to expect better. Re: Giants post season ending loss thread
Can't help thinking that the difference yesterday was again the lack of a stud TE. Give the QB a big body target to look for when under pressure rather than short RB's out of the backfield all the time.

Re: Giants post season ending loss thread
Please focus on Oline, TE and QB.
I listened to game driving and watched bits and pieces on redzone. The incompetent play is concerning |

Top 5 pick bring it on. |

Pretty much sums it up. Above all else we gotta get one. |
Re: Giants post season ending loss thread
If we had to do it all over again, I'd still say Tua over CY. As much as I love Young, and the impact he has had is very good, the offense lacks QB production so bad. Cam Sims proved yesterday he can be a great weapon as well if he actually gets the fucking ball.

Re: Giants post season ending loss thread
I only got to watch the first quarter listened to the rest on radio. How did the giants offense win the LOS? We have top end players across the DL and they have to start impacting games more.
Is it linebackers not filling the holes? The secondary seems to be at least average. 2-6 and losing to some bad teams in the process. This DL and 4th ranked D entering this game have to impact games. I don’t think we forced one turnover from turnover prone Daniel Jones. ———- Looking at the box score 0s and 1s - lots of 0s and 1s on chase and Montez stat line 325 passing yards for Alex. Did he look like step up from Allen sans the ints? 166 rushing yards for giants at over 4 yards per carry 5 sacks for skins 2 sacks giants |
Re: Giants post season ending loss thread
Pressure was there from the D they just didn't close with sacks (15 pressures I believe, 5 sacks but should have been plenty more). Jones fumbled twice but they recovered them.

But did it impact the game though? QB pressure is great but we’re our guys leaving gaps to try and get a sack vs playing the run on the way to the QB? 166 rushing yards is not a good performance for this all first round DL. They need to dominate in run and pass. 5 freaking first round picks. They need to do better than almost get there. |

I can't believe Jones has only won 1 game in his career outside of playing us lmao.. This franchise makes bad QBs look good |
Re: Giants post season ending loss thread
DL can't work miracles on their own, our LBs are subpar at best.

I like all the players individually, they are all very good players but in hindsight we should have spread those 1 st round picks around. We have very capable guys like settle getting unused who could very well bring equivalent production. Just bad allocation of resources but ... if you are going to go heavy somewhere I’d want it to be the DL. Idk I’m rambling ... same rambles for a year plus now. |

I feel like teams have successfully game planned for our d-line by emphasizing getting the ball out quick. We tend to have more success when they try longer developing plays that require more time in the pocket. Either way Jones is now 4-0 against us in his career and 1-17 against everybody else, so he has our number now. I've never seen somebody who was so mediocre against everybody else dominate us like he has. |

And with our injury luck I'm happy having reserves like Kerrigan and Settle, I feel like we shouldn't take it for granted that if something happens to one of our starters we can have a quality backup come in. |

Its actually easier to point out what we do not need. Punter, WR, and Dline. Though you could still make the case for another wr. That is always a true test of how far along you are as a team. We literally have more holes unfilled than filled. We are probably still at least two years away and that is if somehow we can reverse our trend of offseason miscues. GRADES FOR BOTH SIDES YESTERDAY:
OFFENSE C.LUCAS = 86.1 I . WRIGHT = 85.7 K .ALLEN = 81.7 C .SIMS = 78 TERRY = 78 DEFENSE - ALLEN - 83 PAYNE -77 HOLCOMB -75 SETTLE -72 DARBY -71 One grade to be notes is Chase Young has now had 4 games in which his Pass rushing grade has not reached 65.. He's a rookie and we have to be patient but that is not a "Generational talent" type production |

Defense was not bad. After five turnovers they allowed 23 points. Show me an example like that anywhere else. One big play due to rookie K Curl blowing his assignment. Five sacks, forced two fumbles, got plenty of pressure when the ball wasn't out in 1.5 seconds. D Jones averaged like 6 yards a pass play...They were a inconsistent against the run, but it didn't hurt them. Can't put this one on the D. |

I think we are seeing how critical Ionitis is to our run D. Losing him for the year was brutal and he makes the other D linemen around him that much better.

40% on 3rd down (6/15) - below average for the NFL. |

Rivera on Smith starting: "This is good for Dwayne. He'll get an opportunity to see how to truly prepare for a game as a starter and hopefully Dwayne will take it that way. This is an opportunity to learn and grow."

Re: Giants post season ending loss thread
RR’s other comments make clear that he did not think Haskins put in the work to learn the position. Not good. He says he is talented but that’s not nearly enough. Pretty candid assessment.
