Jimmy Moreland had 3 Ints today and another TO when he ripped ball out of WR hands. Keim or JP Finlay said Montez Sweat was dominating Erik Flowers today.
Good article there. Favorite part for me was, "Perhaps nobody enjoyed the session more than defensive lineman Jonathan Allen, who stood right next to the quarterback almost every time he threw the ball. Once, when Keenum extended a play despite being "sacked," Allen gave him a little bump, to let him know he was there. That drew immediate shouts and an appearance by position coach Jim Tomsula, who ushered Allen back to the sideline. He'll have to wait another four months to finish a tackle." J.Allen is a team captain. Even if he doesn't have the "C" on his chest (yet) he is the clear leader of men on defense. Hopefully his attitude and work ethic spreads throughout the locker room. |

“Redskins need WR to emerge for Dwayne Haskins to succeed early” This is fucking key^
That's my concern for this season.. We can have good running game but it won't be that good if defenses know we will always run it. I honestly have little expectations from Redskins WRs except for Quinn. It's going to be TEs year this season. |

I don't see the WRs being good enough to lead us on a playoff run, unless one of those rookies is flat out balling. So overall I'd say Haskins will have a decent rookie yr but lacks the true weapons to light it up. |

P Rich needs to earn his money this year...and he wasn't terrible last year just injured with a conservative QB. I would love for Terry McLaurin to snatch the other outside job. Quinn, Harmon in the slot depending on match up and packages. |

PR is fragile like Reed, doubt that he stays healthy. Terry could be a great deep threat, if only Doc was any good at all SMH |

Re: Redskins O.T.A.
•For the second straight open practice, Cam Sims found himself hauling in passes all over the secondary. The second-year wideout is thrilled to be playing again after getting hurt super early in 2018 and is doing what he can to be a friendly target for his passers, he said after practice. How does he go about doing that, by the way? "Just don't let the DB catch a pick, and everything will be smooth then." Well said, Cam. Well said.
Sims name has been popping up again...need to get him involved more. |

I loved what Sims brought to the field last preseason - granted, it was against 2nd string and lower players but still. It would have been nice if we had a veteran #1 WR who could teach Sims. Richardson does have some talents, he made some nice catches but like Skinsfans said, he is fragile as Reed. I won't expect a full season from him. |

I have no doubt given the opportunity by the coaching staff that Sims would contribute. He's a football player, period.

Josh Doctson " Haskins is good man, hes real good"
Also asked about his goals for this yr "I keep those to myself" He did seem like he knows this year is his last shot at $$ |

The inconsistency is maddening and his latest interview makes it seem like he's content with where he's at in his career. He should be working like he's an undrafted rookie FA on a tryout contract. If he has a huge season and gets a big money deal at least we'd get a 3rd rounder out of it. That's the best-case scenario at this point. |
Re: Redskins O.T.A.
I heard Jay talking up Doctson again. Doc is starting to remind me of Taylor Jacobs. He's a hell of a player except when he actually has to play in a game.

He is never going to be an alpha dog. He will never be the stone cold killer that demands the ball. He will never make tough catches with the game on the line. He does seem content to be a 40 to 50 catch guy. I want a Gark Clark at wr. Or at least another Garcon. |

Jimmy Moreland will be Gary Clark as a DB, same school too. |

I worry that He's another camp miracle that will most likely fade away after the season goes along. |

Are you saying there's a correlation between career success and what school two players go to 40+ years apart? |

He’ll be a great one, end of story. He did it in college and will do it the pros, some players have the “it” factor, he has it. |

Bet. I hope you're right, because if I'm right it means Moreland's a bust, which is the opposite of what I want. |

I'm glad you mentioned the "it" factor. With all of the measurements, testing, and evaluations of game film, there is still "it". I haven't seen this particular player perform yet, but if you say he has "it" then I believe you. It doesn't take long to recognize "it", if you know "it" when you see it. With some players, recognizing that they have "it" is almost instantaneous. Some poor doubting fans don't trust their own "it" sense and are afraid to admit to themselves that they sensed a player had "it" until "it" becomes undeniable. I'm excited about some of our young players who set off my "it" sense. Jonathan Allen definitely has "it". I believe that Derrius Guice has "it". I'm also getting some high readings on my "it" meter for Montez Sweat and Dwaine Haskins. |
Re: Redskins O.T.A.
I wanna say Payne has "it" to.

My thing w/ Sims is how did a guy with his physical ability have so little production at Bama? Also Sims was only hurt the first few weeks of the season yet the staff shut him down. Why? I have little confidence that this staff can even develop a purely raw player like Sims. |

Have to agree with the lack of ability when it comes to developing players at certain positions given the coaches and even the head coach. |

Even with a player like Doc, the coaches simply have to get more out of him. Run more of the routes he's good at. I just have a feeling that a better staff would get his production up a bit. Never to true #1 NFL wr production cause he's not that kind of player, but more than 40 some catches in 16 games. That is just sad. |

You've made a great case with real evidence that the position coaches from 2004 should be upgraded. The original question was about this staff. I can't think of a diamond in the rough type player leaving here recently and balling out with another team. I'm not defending the staff, I just don't understand the Doctson love. I don't know what folks see in him. There have been plenty of veiled statements since his drafting that indicates he might not have the type of mentality to be great, despite having the physical talent. |
Re: Redskins O.T.A.
#Redskins LT Trent Williams, not spotted in the building this morning, wants a new deal, I’m told. His deal was huge when he signed out, but the market has shifted greatly.
Can't blame him |
