Winning
(from Henry V, spoken by King Henry)
Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more; Or close the wall up with our English dead. In peace there's nothing so becomes a man As modest stillness and humility: But when the blast of war blows in our ears, Then imitate the action of the tiger; Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood, Disguise fair nature with hard-favour'd rage;
while dems play politics (and they are damn good at it) Trump keeps moving forward with wins across the spectrum. It's a shame that they probably won't translate at the ballot box with the dems doing everything they can to get their extreme base in a lather. the latest wins: USMCA winners and losers-Washington Post 2nd quarter GDP revised to 4.2 I still doubt the Republicans can get Kavanaugh past the democratic smear machine and the trio of Flake-Murkowski-Collins, but assuming they do, that would be a huge win also. Shockingly, despite the democratic cries of the world falling apart, SK and NK are moving forward in as fair a dialog as we have seen in decades. Of course there is no guarantee that a lasting peace will be established, but when was the last time we heard Rocketman shooting missiles or threatening war? The media nearly chokes when they have to publish positive stories, but truthfully, the country has had a lot of winning, and it's a shame that the hatred for Trump (love of the progressive agenda) buries much of the positives. |
Re: Winning
I'll even go one step further, but of course will get slammed. The left's hatred of Trump has led to them sacrificing media and hollywood icons over the #metoo movement and his presidency - as morally ambiguous as it is, has actually led to more awareness and more power for victims to come forward and be treated respectfully. Obviously the irony is that most "advocates" would tear my skin off for making this point, but it's clear, from the likes of Weinstein, the CBS CEO, O'Reilly, and the rest of the media power structure that has been long protected by it's position and money, that those barriers are falling as police and investigators are now more than ever empowered to defend the victims.

nice race injection. GDP growth, low unemployment, fairer trade agreements, prosecution of powerful men who have abused their position of trust while in power, all of these are good for the whole country regardless of race.
I know it's a liberal brainwash to make it sound like everything must be about race, but the country having a strong economy is simply a good thing, no racial overtures required. |

Second, {tl;dr - don't believe the lie of the narrative that conservatives hates blacks, it's just not true.} And this may be an unpopular statement, but it is my belief. No group, as a whole, has been more lock step with the democratic party than African Americans, and yet they suffer the most from poverty, family separations, violence against their men. The democratic party portrays a false narrative of republicans as bigots, and haters, when the Klan was filled good ole democrats. Re: Winning
I don't want to discuss Kanye West's political views.
I realize media personalities aren't the best political sources, but I also think Peter King made a good point in his MMQB article this week:
c. But what bothered me more than anything was this realization: The people who sat in majority control of this hearing, the 11 Republicans on the Judiciary Committee, are, in order: white male, white male, white male, white male, white male, white male, white male, white male, white male, white male, white male. Their ages: 85, 84, 67, 66, 66, 63, 58, 55, 47, 47, 46. Think about that. Eleven white males, average age 62.2, sitting in judgment of a 53-year-old white male from the upper crust of society. There is a dispute, a she-said, he-said dispute. She is eminently believable. He is adamant about his innocence. Certainly it’s going to be impossible to know with certainty what happened. But why is it in the United States of America in 2018—with a population of 327 million (median age 37.8 years old), of which 165 million are women—that the ultimate jury in this case is so non-representative of what this country really is right now? We are 50.8 percent women, and there are no women on the Republican side of the Judiciary Committee. We are 39 percent non-white, and there are no non-white Republicans on the committee. Incredible to me that in this day and time, the political process is stuck in 1969.
|

Fact is there should be term limits across the spectrum. If anyone can explain to me how Sen McCain, with all due respect to his service through out his life, was still an active senator when he wasn't able to physically attend Senate for a year. There should be term limits and age limits for Congress, the President, and SC. You can make it 18 year limit for Senators/Representatives, and 82 for all positions of government. This should come as no surprise, considering that over the past 30 years the average age of a Member of Congress has increased with almost every new Congress. In 1981, the average age of a Representative was 49 and the average of a Senator was 53. Today, the average age of a Representative is 57 and the average of a Senator is 61. This prompted us to take a further look at those graying averages.

More than half of the Senators up for reelection in 2018 will be over the age of 65. 18 of the 33 Senators running for reelection in 2018 will be 65 or older. If they win, another six years in office would put Senators Feinstein, Hatch, Nelson, and Sanders well into their 80s. Looking ahead at the 2020 elections, 21 of the 33 Senators running for reelection will be 65 or older. The current chamber is already one of the oldest Senates by some measures according to the Washington Post, and the data suggests this trend would continue in the coming years.
|

The irony is this...if the government mandated it, you would love it. Since corporate America is doing it...its criticized. This is serious competition component to the 15 raise....but lets not talk about it. Wages are rising and there have been articles about the holiday job hiring frenzy where higher pay this season was gonna be an issue for demand of those jobs. To any democrats/liberals in this thread, what are like the top 3-5 policies/ideals/laws/etc. that are the most important to you? I mean this seriously. I think we live in such an us vs. them/take no prisoners world that actual helpful discussions are harder and harder to have. I'd imagine we all have a lot more in common than not, just have different ideas of how to achieve them.
|
Re: Winning
If you are over 70 and still hogging a spot in congress you are a selfish narcissist that thinks you're so important than there is no way we could survive without you. Congress is not supposed to be a lifetime job. You can only be president twice for 8 years, no reason you should be allowed to be a senator more than 2 terms for 12 years or a house member for 6 terms of 2 years. Its absurd how rich all these fuckers get at our expense.

lol, I don't remember. I wonder if the states could get enough votes to pass a constitutional amendment.
