Birds Post game (Redskins 24 Cardinals 6)
1-0 Lets discuss.
D was great, O was solid |
Re: Birds Post game
This team looks completely different with Smith running the show. I actually didn’t go into cardiac arrest at any point during the game with Smith QBing even backed up within our 10.
The AP/CT two headed dragon looks like it’s going to work out just fine. Secondary looked solid all night. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Birds Post game
Wasn’t even a ball game, still not sure why some were so down on the Skins coming in. The Cards fucking suck.
|
Re: Birds Post game
I've always complaint about this team's inability to score early. Going up 21-0 early was HUGE and it is something we were never able to accomplish previously. Doing this basically neutralized David Johnson. I think we made an upgrade at the QB position and we have a veteran leader that should be able to put the team in position to win in many games.
The D was huge, and I hope they can keep it up. HTTR!!! |
Re: Birds Post game
The difference with Smith at QB was the - should have been a safety - play. Heads up play. Made a bad situation manageable. So glad he is here.

It’s a national crime that Bradford gets 20 million for 2018. |
Re: Birds Post game
I would have to say that the only thing we were missing today was more production from the wr's. I think more of that will hopefully come. No complaints at all when you win on the road. Love the way Gruden called the game where he stayed w/ the run and fed AP and CP.
|
Re: Birds Post game
Run the ball, stop the run.....you do that and we will win 90% of our games
|
Re: Birds Post game
I'm also loving celebrating an opening week win.

Birds Post game
If not for the defensive holding Smith hits Richardson in stride on a beautiful long ball. That was good to see. AP looked like he had something to prove and please lord let CT and Reed stay healthy. CT is such a weapon. D was awesome. So weird to see us shut down a running back let alone a good one.
HTTR! |
Re: Birds Post game
Negatives = got none
Positives = 1-0 not 0-1 Superlatives = We needed Alex Smith. Peterson looked like All Day and Night. Chris Thompson is easily my favorite NFL player. Defense played lights out. Cowboys and Giants lost. And Hail to the Fucking Redskins. |
Re: Birds Post game
Negatives
- no pass rush - no play from WRs (our two leading receivers were RBs) - too many dumb penalties - Apke injury (saved a TD on teams) Positives - everything else - Run D and secondary were awesome, AS is steady and inspires confidence, CT and AP looked unstoppable, and the O line was stout My game ball would go to Quinton Dunbar - outstanding all around game and he knew he’d be targeted. Shows he absolutely belongs starting opposite JNo. Amazing for a former WR. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Birds Post game
1-0. Let's not get carried away. This IS a game they should have won. Zero pressure on the QB is concerning, but everything else was impressive...
|
Re: Birds Post game
But this is the kind of game that until today we would have found a way to lose. Encouraging.
Win another game next week you should be favored to win, and then you have a real test in Green Bay. I hate a week 4 bye. Still ticked about that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

These are the types of games that we've lost in the past because we can't score early. We're going to have tougher games, but some of the mistakes we've seen today should go away as new players like Smith, AP, and PRich get more reps/acquainted with current players. |
Re: Birds Post game
Win at home next week in a game they SHOULD win, and I will say this team has turned a corner. Definitely enjoying this win, but not going to get too giddy about it.

There are no games we are supposed to win. I would not have been surprised in the least if we lost. Sorry just being honest. |
Re: Birds Post game
We focused on stopping David Johnson like we should have. We didn’t need to bring pressure

That's from the heart, but this us definitely a game this team should have won. And they did. :woot: |
Re: Birds Post game
That was a great win. Good start to the season.
Defense looked legit. Great against the run and fantastic in coverage. I assume the lack of pressure was due to game plan to limit Johnson. My biggest concern though is that our 3 most productive players on offense are also the most likely to get injured at some point in the season. I sure hope Smith and his WRs get something going soon. Re: Birds Post game
Was so nice to watch a game in which I wasn't getting a sick feeling like the 'skins were going to give the game away. Ball control really helped. Our secondary played well.
|
Re: Birds Post game
Team looked good. I'm happy to see a big start of the season unlike the previous years where it took us 3 games to get going. Not to mention this was on the road too so that's even better.
My only issues: Where is the pass rush? AP fumbling is something I was worried about previously and here he is fumbling in game one. Luckily we had a comfortable lead this time. Penalties. Generally a sign of undisciplined team. |
Re: Birds Post game
I saw a play in the 2nd half Settle got pushed off the ball then pushed his guy back into the middle of the line clogging up 3 guys and the running back had his hole close up.
I like our dline rotation. Gotta get more pass rush but i think we played to stop d johnson and see if bradford could beat us. |
Re: Birds Post game
Per Keim:
Quinn and Sims to have MRI’s on their ankles, hopefully is nothing serious cause we are missing Harris too. |

I think our pressure was decent. I’m more worried about why Doctson is terrible at WR, P Rich missed his deep target, and crowder doesn’t look 100%...is he injuried? WR need to play better |

Re: Birds Post game
For anyone concerned about the pass rush, did it seem like they were rushing only four the vast majority of the time? I’d still like more rush but I’ll take that without blitzing.

Re: Birds Post game
Overall it was a great game - it is a good sign we beat a team that we are supposed to beat and we had good control most of game. Offense looks good with Smith even though he checked in often, but with how CT is playing, I'm not complaining. I was hoping to see some passes to WRs and TEs.
Dunbar had a great game, he is becoming a great story! Our DBs did good job containing everyone, and entire defense on David Johnson. I'm curious to see how this defense will play against better offenses (I was going to say Packers but Rodgers is out with knee injury now so who knows). AP ran well but wow he dances way too much, he could have gotten little more yards had if he just run through fast. Glad the fumble happened when we had great control of the game. Very impressed with CT and he said his leg isn't fully healed. Can't wait to see when he is 100% healthy! |
Re: Birds Post game
Today showed why 11 is an upgrade over KC. He made so many plays on the move, super accurate and smart.

Pass rush wasn't there today but also Sam has always been good at getting the ball out fast.

I hope Cam Sims and Trey Quinn are okay! We need those guys!

Re: Birds Post game
With Cousins, it felt like being a negative Nancy worry wart until the clock struck zero was 100% warranted.
With Alex Smith, I feel like I was just being a big baby. It just feels different in a beautiful way with AS. That's a good feeling. |
Re: Birds Post game
I hate to say this cause I can’t stand his ass, but depending on the results of the MRI’s of Quinn and Sims, could the Redskins sign Dez if those 2 are hurt for awhile? Apparently Dez says he wants to play for the Patriots or Redskins.
