Coach Changes: Firings/Hirings
Don't be surprised if Chip Kelly goes to San Fran...Kap gives him a hard-on

Re: Coach Changes: Firings/Hirings
Weird how the NFL works. Would have thought Jay would have been all over this thread a few months back.

Who woulda thought? Chip and possibly Coughlin goes, Jay stays. I think Jay did a nice job with the team, exceeded my expectations. I also think Callahan and Perry Fewell made both our Coordinators look damn good. |
Re: Coach Changes: Firings/Hirings
SF is a total mess. Boy owner obviously doesn't have a clue what he's doing.
Cleveland is also a mess. They're never going to get it right. Whoever drafted Manziel should remove themselves from all football making decisions. Well, I guess the owner can't fire himself so he'll fire the coaches and GM. |

Shanahan, Holmgren, Payton are also rumored. How about Holmgren as HC and Shanahan as OC? Let's get the geritol band back together. |

I would think being reunited with Marcus Mariota and playing in the terrible AFC South would give him more Pant movement. He would get shrinkage with the thought of playing in the NFC West and facing Seattle and Arizona four times a year. |
Re: Coach Changes: Firings/Hirings
Tomsula gone in SF, I cannot believe he was hired in the first place. Anyone who has played or coached the game at any level knows D-line requires the least football I.Q. next to kicker. Coaching that position to HC is like going from teaching 3rd grade math to college calculus. That hire had fail written all over it.

Re: Coach Changes: Firings/Hirings
This make me think that no one in the NFL wants Chip Kelly:

Haslem's decision making is very reminiscent of early 2000's Dan Snyder, and Jed York just managed to totally dismantle a SB contender in the span of a couple seasons. |
Re: Coach Changes: Firings/Hirings
Thank god we aren't worried about this right now, and it appears that we won't have to again for a while.

It's possible that Haslem could figure it out in time whereas York couldn't find his own ass using both hands. As long as York runs the 49'ers, there is little chance that franchise will get any better. |

Re: Coach Changes: Firings/Hirings
So now that Cleveland cleaned house is Morocco Brown jobless? Bring him back to DC to work with Scot M.
|
Re: Coach Changes: Firings/Hirings
It is hard to pick which ownership is worse, the Browns or the 49ers.
|
Re: Coach Changes: Firings/Hirings
if i were miami i'd stick with campbell... he went 5-2 didn't he? and he's not 80, so, there's that.

hearing Coughlin fired

I hope not. I felt if the Giants were smart they'd politely ask him to retire. It's clear they want someone new but this is a delicate situation. The guy won you 2 Super Bowls, if you kick him like he doesn't mean shit it will make you look bad. But then again I guess I shouldn't be too surprised considering we know what kind of people the Giants' ownership group is. |

Re: Coach Changes: Firings/Hirings
Let's fire up the bandwagon to give them some suggestions guys. I'll start: Jim Fassel is still available. Or they could go for Jim Tomsula. Hell I'm sure Steve Mariucci wouldn't mind coaching again. Whoever it is, I hope he's an old retread with a minimal history of success.

Re: Coach Changes: Firings/Hirings
How about Rob Ryan?
|
Re: Coach Changes: Firings/Hirings
The Giants job seems like the most desirable head coaching job available. You have a decent starting QB, the ownership isn't crazy, and the division is winnable. Only real downside is dealing with the NYC media, although in the NFL I don't know how much worse it is in NYC vs anywhere else.

Re: Coach Changes: Firings/Hirings
Sean Payton will have interest in the Giants for sure

Morocco and Bruce Allen had issues, they're unlikely to work together |

Jim Zorn.

I wonder if the Giants might make a run at Cowher.

Cowher's name comes up every year. But anyone who has been out of coaching for 9 years has decided to not coach. I don't think he wants to go back to grind after this long, when he can make easy money being a talking head on TV. |

Morocco probably told him he was a fucking idiot trading three 1st rounders and a 2nd for RGIII. :laughing2 |
Re: Coach Changes: Firings/Hirings
Hats off to Coughlin, he had a hell of a run in NY.

Funny how I heard one Giants fan at work today who was cursing coughlin and Eli for the last 2 years call him the greatest nfl coach outside of parcels and belicheat. Gotta love these giants fans |
Re: Coach Changes: Firings/Hirings
Hats off to Coughlin, he had a hell of a run in NY.
Yup. He had quite the unique career with the Giants, I was amazed to find out how few times the Giants made the playoffs with him at the helm. But the times he did make the playoffs he definitely made the most of the opportunity. Idk if he's a HOFer but gotta give him plenty of credit for the 2 SB wins. |
Re: Coach Changes: Firings/Hirings
Don't you know the Eagles are proud they got rid of that...has been...Andy Reid?

You don't say ? You mean there were fans who cursed and criticized everything their team did and then said they were great ,sorry I don't believe that goes on!SARCASM!:laughing- ........by the way I didn't know you work with my brother.:silly: |
Don't you know the Eagles are proud they got rid of that...has been...Andy Reid?
To be fair, they needed a change. Andy did well getting that team all those nfc east titles but it clearly crumbled and he needed a change as did they. I would say the same thing happened in Denver with shanahan. |
