Cousins has arrived
Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins' time has arrived - NFL
I think we've now got our answer to the question "Who is Kirk Cousins?" |
Re: Cousins has arrived
Whatever psychologist Kirk saw in the off-season it paid off. His demeanor after bad plays changed dramatically and he continued to have that confidence needed to come back and close games. Dude has had ice in his veins in several games he's led us down the field to victory. He's earned whatever contract he's going to get that much is certain.

Re: Cousins has arrived
He's our Tom Brady and playing like him
|
Re: Cousins has arrived
I wouldn't say tom brady just yet lol but I do believe kirk is going to be a top 10 QB for the next 5-8 years during his prime. He's only 27 so he can play at a all pro level for another 10 years honestly. I don't like looking ahead because I did the same with RG3 even though I believe kirk is much better but still we can enjoy his presence and build a championship team now around a QB for once.

Cousins has arrived and it looks like 30gut has departed.

Pay the man. He's most certainly earned it.

Difference is: Haloti Ngata isn't here to blast Cousins knee the wrong way. |

I think we've now got our answer to the question "Who is Kirk Cousins?"
Perhaps... but my only concern now is him reverting back to the mediocre kind of play that got him benched last season once he gets that huge contract. |
Re: Cousins has arrived
I don't see him pulling a......Haynesworth

Re: Cousins has arrived
Kirk has the chip on his shoulder, he wants to be great
|
Re: Cousins has arrived
Pay him. Put the chips in, I like our chances with him long term.

C'mon man. Are you serious? He's going to have some bad games like every QB does. These guys are not machines. But as long as they protect him and give him weapons, and keep him in the same offense, he's proven he can get the job done and be a top NFL QB. He's playing like this w/out any resemblance of a running game to lean on. Also KC just does not come off as the kind of guy to let things go to his head. He's a lunch pale kind of guy who keeps his mouth shut, keeps his head in the playbook and film room, and gives the credit to his teammates. |

Looking back on that play, it certainly hurt Griffin's off season in 2012 as he was rehabbing. But at some point, he had to develop his pocket game and never did. In the end that was his downfall here, not the knee injury. It will be interesting to see where he lands next year but I doubt anyone will have him come in as a starter. He's going to have to do what KC did and win a job during training camp. |

I can't see how that would be a legit concern with him. He's not wired like that. |

He's played at a higher level for the past month and a half than any other starting quarterbacks in the league. Cousins has succeeded expectations. And I truly think he has turned more than one corner in his development. But he accomplished this in a contract year. That's why I'm a little concerned. |

And NYCskinsfan82 - possibly still figuring out how RG-3's speed would be the better fit as opposed to Kirks superior QB play though? |

If Ngata had not blasted his knee he would still be a very fast and dangerous "play maker" with an inability to read defenses, throw accurately, and adapt to defenses when they force him to throw the ball. Just sayin.... |

He has had 1.5 years to recover from all his injuries, it usually takes 2 years to recover from major knee surgery. I would not be surprised if he looks like his old self next year (speed wise) it wouldn't be a bad gamble for a team to sign him, especially on the cheap side. |

No doubt he can regain his speed. What I doubt is that speed alone can make for a successful starting QB in the NFL. |

I'm still here, I'm a SKINS fan first and in case you didn't know I'm entitled to my own opinion don't make this site into the site that doesn't need to be named where everyone must think alike and agree with everyone else. |

Would never want it to be that site that wont be named. So that being said, did Kirk change your opinion yet? |

Cousins has succeeded expectations. And I truly think he has turned more than one corner in his development. But he accomplished this in a contract year. That's why I'm a little concerned.
He actually accomplished this after starting enough games to develop into a good QB. The fact that it's a contract year is coincindental. Most really good QBs struggled in their first season as a starter. How many of them reverted back to their rookie year struggles after finally "figuring it out"? You're concerned about something that is extremely rare. |
Re: Cousins has arrived
Cousins ain't reverting, he is a solid QB and next year
Will be even better when our OL is healthy with maybe a new C and LG Or not. |

He got his knee blasted because it was hovering in the air begging to be blasted. Doesn't matter how fast he is or can be or how well he plays. He can't protect himself in or out of the pocket. |

My heart wants him to do well, but my brain keeps telling my heart how clueless it is..... |
Re: Cousins has arrived
Gotta pay him. He's a capable (at least) QB in a QB league. If he keeps his head on straight and really cements that confidence in himself then were set at QB. Which is basically all the NFL is about anymore.

Re: Cousins has arrived
I read an article yesterday morning that claims some internal redskins folks are still arguing on keeping RG3 for next season. I really hope that is not true. For once it appears we have no quarterback controversy. Cousins pulled this team from the ashes this season. To go back to RG3 is not just stupid, it is ludicrous and wrong...

I highly doubt Griffin wants to come back here. I'd assume that he wants a fresh start somewhere else and the organization probably wants the same. |
Re: Cousins has arrived
If there are some "internal Redskins folks" that are arguing to bring him back they should probably not be brought back either.
