Trade RG3 to Dallas?

So I just came across this article. It may be a pipe dream but I am ready to be rid of RG3. I felt the article had some good points I must admit....Thoughts?

And this one...

I actually think, and agree with, that Dallas is the one team that RG3 would not get traded to.

If I'm McCloughan I'd be willing to answer the phone on it but I'd only take a trade if it was a conditional #1 or #2. The risk of giving him to Dallas for a #4 and him actually getting it together to shove it in our faces 2x a year is not worth it. Even if he rots on the roster until the offseason and Jones gets him cheaper, I prefer that. Unless Scot thinks RG3 is so bad that he will never be capable of beating us but pride does strange things.

Re: Trade RG3 to Dallas?

Why are we even talking about this guy still? Trade him to any team willing to give up whatever it is that Scot wants in return.

Re: Trade RG3 to Dallas?

If this guy thinks RG3 would perform better in Dallas than Brandon Weeden would, then he's not watching much actual football.

Haha well at least we could get something for the real life version of "Steaming Willie Beamen"

Dallas's best options are going to be Matt Flynn, Ponder or Ryan Lindley and hoping they never have to use them in a game.

I gotta feeling Weeden gonna be servicable...obviously QB play will drop off but I dont think its gonna be terrible.

I mean, Weeden came in last night and out played Bradford immediately. I think thats a good sign.

Rex Grossman could be viable there too.

Re: Trade RG3 to Dallas?

Even though I don't think this trade will happen, please just trade him out of the NFC East.

Trade him to Jets or the Bills or some shit. I don't wanna see his ass more than once a year, if that.

I wondered about Orton as well. Since he "retired" he may not be in football shape right now though. That said, he is already familiar with the team and system so they may feel that he is closest to getting up to speed for them should they need to go to a #2 guy..

Re: Trade RG3 to Dallas?

I am hoping Mallet and Hoyer in Texas fail miserably. I'm sure RGIII would be welcome back in Texas and that he would welcome the trade. Plus, I would be happy to see him succeed and flourish there - not saying it would happen, just that I would be happy for him to do well in the AFC.

Wasn't it nice yesterday that he was barely talked about (if at all?)?

they are not gonna trade him in the division.

Im not sure why people are saying this. Trade him and they are on the hook for next years salary or cutting him outright and only having him for the remainder of this year. Wait til the end of the year and cut him, and they can have him for cheap.

Schneed10 09-21-2015 05:08 PM

Re: Trade RG3 to Dallas?

It's just a dumb discussion (sorry). RG3 is completely lost even after two years in an offense predicated on timing. Well guess who else's offense is predicated on timing, Jason Garrett's. So he's going to go in there cold and be any better than he was here?

Even if he was fast at picking up the playbook he'd still need time to do so. And he's ever so clearly not fast at it.

There's no chance this happens and it's dumb to even postulate about it.

How much would we have to give Dallas, to take Griffin and his whole contract off our hands?
they are not gonna trade him in the division.
Why not? It's not like he can actually do well in any of those offenses. He isn't magically going to gain pocket presence or be able to read defenses and make line adjustments.

Yeah I agree, I don't care where he goes. He's simply not the same guy he was in 2012 and likely never will be again.

That said Dallas would have to be pretty dumb to make a move for a guy who's clearly not ready to contribute this year.

Trade him to whoever offers the most for him.

We should worry about the quality of our team before anything else.

We have a dude that can draft football players now.

Last week before the game I texted 3 of my friends that are Dallas fans and told them Romo hurt his back in practice and the boys have traded for RG3,I had them all in a panic, love screwin with the cowboy fans:devil:
After the game sunday I texted them all back and said it doesnt sound so far fetched now:)

Would be hilarious if Jerruh made us an offer that we couldn't refuse.

Re: Trade RG3 to Dallas?

Let me see... if somebody trades for him

they pick up his contract, freeing up cap space that we could add someone who might be Active on game day

we get a high draft pick in return, that our talented GM turns into a Big Nasty

the drama leaves the team

Yep....count me in.

One thought about keeping him in the division is that his Dad might find his way into the locker room in times of trouble :)

Re: Trade RG3 to Dallas?

I just don't think anyone trades for him. He will only be signed by another NFL team once someone can get him for bare minimum. The NFL knows he's damaged goods, and would likely only have value as a good backup / spot starter. He does not have the health to last 16 games...

true, but how many games does Dallas need him for this year? 7 or 8?

If they offered me 2nd & I'd wrap him up in a bow!

Won't happen.. Just because RG3 is garbage here doesn't mean 2 years from now he isn't thriving in a different environment. I don't think it will happen but there's no reason to put yourself in the position of facing him later if he does work out there. A slim chance is a chance. No one is going to take the risk. Not for our top rival. 30 other teams? sure..

its folks like us talking about this that creates the RGlll distraction! as far as a person I like RGlll and wish him a happy and long life…BUT he is never going to be the QB we wished for..yes for that first year he was a star…but he turned out to be a shooting star. There is not a team that would give up a number 2 pick unless Vinny is still a GM!

Re: Trade RG3 to Dallas?

I like to talk about RG3, in the way that you and your friends talk about an old crazy ex-girlfriend; she was fun for awhile, then she got weird and she started doing shit you hated. So you break up, forget about the fact she ever existed and every now and then you have those "Remember when my old crazy ex did..." moments. You get irritated, or laugh, or roll your eyes... Then you thank God you're married to your current wife and not that old broad in the past and keep it moving.

Let's not forget that Jerry Jones would've drafted Manziel if he had his way; so he's prone to make stupid mistakes every now and then.

Re: Trade RG3 to Dallas?

i would literally trade him for a ham sandwich, since that means $3.6m more in cap space. I still don't think there would be any takers though.

As little regard most here have for RGIII it still makes no sense to trade him anywhere he could help a division rival. Not Dallas. Not Philly.

In my eyes the Saints are a more real possibility if Drew's injury is more long term.

I feel the opposite. At this point RG3 is no more than a long term project with
an attitude. It speaks volumes that he is lower than career 3rd stringer Colt McCoy on the depth chart. I would rather he went to a rival, he has no upside
at this point and could easily be a negative for a team that picks him up.
