GREAT! This will give us something to talk about for days to come.

I think it's a shame, I want to see what kind of numbers that kid can put up on the field. Yeah, he's an asshole, but I still feel he'd be exciting to watch.

On a side note... How does a returned signing bonus work with the cap?

Re: Winslow done for the year

So glad we drafted ST instead of him.

Even though ST has his issues, at least he's making plays on the field.

TheMalcolmConnection 05-19-2005 10:45 AM

Re: Winslow done for the year

He might have been exciting prior to his injuries. I just don't think after two season-ending injuries he'll ever be the same player again.

Re: Winslow done for the year

Was it the same knee he busted last year?

PSUSkinsFan21 05-19-2005 10:49 AM

Re: Winslow done for the year

It will be interesting to see if he ever gets a chance to become a star. Malcolm is right, it's got to be very difficult to return to a game that you haven't had a chance to play at a professional level AND come back from two rather serious injuries.

And I agree with Daseal too, he really did seem to have the potential to be a stud, so in that sense it's a shame we may never get to see it.

Actually he broke his right leg last year, but it is on the same leg, yes.

Re: Winslow done for the year

I agree, I dont think he will ever be the same player he used to be. I also think he will be injury prone and likely never play a complete season again.

I guess compared to KW Taylor looks mature but Taylor has a long way to go on the maturity scale.

Speaking of mature, where are vet leaders on this team telling ST he needs to get his butt to the park and workout with the team?

Anyone know how the signing bonus Cleveland will get back will effect their cap?

I'm going to take a complete guess, but I'd assume they would get some money taken off the cap. The only reason I guess this, is because looking at our situation with L.Coles, him giving back his bonus would have given us more money for the cap. Hence, why I had such a problem with the trade. So I think if he is giving back part of the bonus, it would come off the cap.

Re: Winslow done for the year

i feel sorry for the browns here. i mean, you lose your top offensive player to season ending injuries two seasons in a row. i think that this means braylon edwards will be getting the ball more than a rookie usually gets because they don't have anyone who can make plays.

TheMalcolmConnection 05-19-2005 11:51 AM

Re: Winslow done for the year

I wouldn't call him the top offensive player. He hasn't hardly played in any games yet. LOL :)

Re: Winslow done for the year

The only notable thing about Kellen Winslow is that if his football career doesnt pan out he can always be a stunt double for Vin Diesel.

The guy's a selfish, spoiled headcase, and on top of that an overrated football player. His last season at "The U" he had 1 TD catch all year, and it came against Lousiana Tech.

All hype, no substance.

TheMalcolmConnection 05-19-2005 05:41 PM

Re: Winslow done for the year

LOL LOL! I've always thought that! He DOES look just like Vin Diesel.

He can be the stunt double in Pacifier II as long as he doesn't have to ride any bikes. Motorized or tricycle.

PSUSkinsFan21 05-19-2005 05:49 PM

Re: Winslow done for the year

LOL.....I could never put my finger on it, but he really does look like Vin doesn't he?

Perhaps if Vin ever had to play a "soldier" though......... KW's got a lot of experience in that department (self proclaimed, of course).

On second thought, I don't know about a stunt double career, he'd probably only make it through two scenes before breaking or tearing something. LOL

Re: Winslow done for the year

Ok,so I guess the S.T situation could be worse. ;)
Sucks to be a Browns fan! :screama:

Daseal 05-19-2005 06:41 PM

Re: Winslow done for the year

Maybe Vin should be his stunt devil, I'm sure KWII's acting is better, couldn't be worse.

Ron Burgandy: Let's remember he was getting doubled up at least all that year. So sure, his stats went down, but their offense was a lot more productive because they had to spend so many resources to guard a fricken TE.

Re: Winslow done for the year

still, we didnt pick him, the postons turned his contract into a marathon of asshole, and he's missed 2 years in a row... btw, about the poston's not knowing wtf they're doing: he had a clause to play 35% of snaps for a bonus last year (5$mill or so) the postons forgot an injury boilerplate and so KWII got screwed, and now he's gonna lose 5-10m more cause he's a f**ktard... those guys are MADE for each other...

he also spent his entire postdraft press conference ripping J. Gibbs and calling him a liar, and yes, i'm still bitter... have a nice life.

He probably ended his NFL career before it even had a chance to begin................but I won't shed any tears for this guy........
what a jerk..........

Re: Winslow done for the year

Very much like Bo Jackson, but at least he got a chance to play... He'll have lots of bionic parts installed after that much leg trauma.

Re: Winslow done for the year

Pasta actually wrote an article I approve of on this:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=pasquarelli_len&id=2063881

Definitely worth a read.

A few things I didn't realize:
1. He actually called himself "The Chosen One"? What an A$$

2. Excerpt from the article:
"Flash back to last summer, his first NFL training camp, when the Browns' organization fawned over its first-rounder despite his tardiness because of a contract dispute. Here was a player who was to carry the franchise, right? Instead, a club functionary regularly toted Winslow's helmet and shoulder pads off the field for him after practice. That went over big, we can tell you, with his older teammates. The media hung on every syllable Winslow uttered because his words were so sparse. And that's because the organization required him to be available for interviews only once a week, a privilege customarily reserved for those who actually have accomplished something in their NFL careers."

PUNK, PUNK, PUNK

3. Another excerpt:
"Still, if Winslow forfeited nearly two weeks of training camp last summer while Browns president John Collins fought to have such default language included in the contract, what was the point if those contract stipulations are rendered meaningless?"

So the motorcycle clause was NOT part of the boilerplate player contract. The Browns specifically sought to prohibit Winslow from this very activity.....they contracted for it, and he breached their agreement. So this isn't like all the other players who play basketball and ride wave-runners when they shouldn't because of some vague clause that could be argued to include some activities and not others. It's not coincidence that Winslow's contract specifically prohibited motorcycle riding.

Re: Winslow done for the year

The more I read about the guy the more my dislike for him grows. Maybe two years away from the game will humble him a bit. Somehow I doubt it though.
