F...Snow
I know it's great for the kids, but when you are constantly scheduling and rescheduling it does nothing but cause headaches. Guys cancelling around it, having to plan full days for guys when you know they are going to call out at the first flake. I have a headache, and it isn't even funny.
It could have been expanded to F...Winter, because I am more than ready for this winter to be over, but the snow and the pattern of it, just enough to maybe be an issue maybe not, is killing me. |
Re: F...Snow
Boston would agree.
|
Re: F...Snow
I agree, and we haven't even gotten that much snow this year in the dmv. I'm definitely looking forward to spring.

Re: F...Snow
^I was just wondering if I would be an ass to mention that it was 76 and sunny here today. :D
|
Re: F...Snow
Yes that would qualify as being an ass.
|
Re: F...Snow
I'm tired of the cold more than the snow. Yesterday it was 36 and that's the warmest it's been in six weeks. Our Feb was one of the coldest on record.
|
Re: F...Snow
Damn snow has ended up costing me a few hundred dollars because a few of the wrestling tournaments that I was scheduled to referee had to be cancelled. So damn annoying.
It really needs to be spring!!! |
Re: F...Snow
Driveway shoveled, snow stopped, general tso dinner, and a beer. Feels good.

Yup. This whole 20-30 degree weather just has to go. One of the biggest inconveniences is that the old snow and ice just won't go away. On commuter streets (not the main drags but not side streets), it just freezes and driving is terrible b/c all the streets that are normally two lanes become one lane because the other is filled with unmelted snow and ice. All it takes is one putz/asshole and no one goes anywhere. My commute home takes three times as long just b/c the average speed is ~20 mph down a (now) one lane street. I just want it to f'ing melt and go away. March had better damn well go out like a f'ing lamb. |

Re: F...Snow
Yeah 30 is pretty much a beach day. As I get older it becomes very apparent why senior citizens all move to Florida. Im so on that bandwagon.
|
Re: F...Snow
I'm done with snow. Luckily in MD it seems that this was the last of it (crossing fingers/knock on wood). I'm convinced that my 1-year old is sick of having to stay home when her daycare closes.

We have friends/family in Minnesota who were pretty much "Yeah? So?" Baltimore's historical daily average daily temp in Feb. is 38. This year it was 26. I think it's fair to say it was abnormally cold all along the north eastern seaboard this past Feb. Regardless. I am still done. We are actually supposed to have a couple days this coming week where it may hit 50. Gonna feel like the middle of summer. |
Re: F...Snow
I remember when I lived in MD that the first day it hit like......50? The top on my car was comin' down!!

This week coming up looks nice in my neck of the woods too, can't wait for some of this snow to start melting. I haven't seen my deck in months lol |
Re: F...Snow
Snow it is pretty but it is the ice you need to worry about!

We've had both in this area. I think at one point we had ice, snow (5-8 in.), and then more ice. |

Blizzard conditions
I would so pissed off if I looked outside and saw 30 inches of snow. |
Re: F...Snow
30 inches of snow will collapse weaker roofs. This is going to be one for the record books.
|
Re: F...Snow
I am looking forward to it. Gives me a reason to go play with my kids in the snow. People look at you weird when you are a 40 year old sledding with no kids.

Re: F...Snow
Here in the south, they panic at the sign of the first snow flake. Which is OK, because I work for a school that closes at the first sign of a snowflake. Which means, metalskins stays home, gets paid, makes homemade chili, drinks beer, and watches the snow fall.
|
Re: F...Snow
This weekend is gonna suck. Gotta work tomorrow, everyone is saying the snow is due right when I get off work at 5 pm. We had 1 inch of snow last night and it turned my 1 hr commute into a 1 hr 45 min commute. Plus the management group that owns my dealership apparently gets into pissing contests with other management so they can brag about "keeping the dealer open" while other dealers shut down. I've been here 4 years and we've never shut down a full day when it snows. But if they do shut down or I don't come in, it will be an unpaid day off because even though I'm salary+comm if I take a day off it gets deducted out of my check.

Re: F...Snow
I must have a 1/4 of a cord of wood in the house already hit the grocery and liqueur stores all the cars have gas and the snow shovels are prep.A new roof was put on 7 years ago and the furnace is 5 years old(heat pump) the cars are in the drive way (no garage)! No plains to leave the house other than shoveling till Tuesday.Once I see it start I'm going to throw some grass seed out on the lawn but I should be set to go.
If any of you go out or shovel snow be careful take your time and be safe.:) |

Re: F...Snow
Have to chime in on this one. I'm in the Winchester, VA area - we are supposed to get 48" or more by Sunday Morning. High winds are supposed to move in tomorrow afternoon and the drifts could be as high as 8 feet in places.
It's been snowing since about 12:00 here today, we have about 6 inches on the ground so far and the really heavy snow is not supposed to come in until later tonight. It's calling for "Thunder Snow" around midnight, so i'm hoping to stay up and witness what people are telling me is like almost a once in a lifetime experience. My plan is to plow the driveway every several hours so I can try and stay on top of it...May have to shovel off the roof of the tractor shed and the house once it gets to about two feet just for safety... |
