Dr. Ray Solano ‏@DrRaySolano 3h
#Redskins Jordan Reed w/ grade 2 hamstring strain. Expect at least 3-4 wks out, barring any set backs.

Did he really even start? He got hurt in preseason, and now on the 6th play of the game.

Terrible, I still have no clue why we didn't go out and get a xtra TE in the offseason.

it is easier to keep track of when Reed is healthy

I hate to lose Coefield, but I'd like to see Baker to develop as our future NT.

Cofield is solid, but I don't think we are going to really be screwed if he misses a few weeks. I didn't get how someone on NFL.com said that going to Niles Paul was a big downgrade. He performed pretty well yesterday.
Can you say Tyler Jacobs??!!!!!!!
That would be Taylor Jacobs, and I thought the exact same thing - another soft player from Florida. And when he comes back, can someone tell him not to needlessly leave his feet - the play he was hurt on was very reminiscent of Fred Davis trying to hurdle the defense.

Except when he fumbled away the potential game tying TD

We did, we got Bolser. Honestly we revamped a lot of depth positions, got some O-line, special teams help, D-line, secondary --> you can't expect to get a ProBowl replacement for every position in one season.

Next season a second TE will be a priority, definitely wouldn't go in thinking Reed can be the only option. Really too bad FDavis didn't pan out.

The Cofield injury is problematic. High ankle sprains can hang around, causing problems. And a NT really needs his ankles to work.

Paul is nowhere near the route runner or matchup problem that Reed is.

Re: Reed, Cofield could miss time

I like Paul. Even so, he simply isn't the playmaker Reed is. Not even close.

Re: Reed, Cofield could miss time

I'm starting to thing that Reed's body just isn't built to play professional football. I think it's always going to be something with him. Sucks cause the guy have such a high talent level but he just can't stay on the field.

saden1 09-09-2014 11:48 AM

Re: Reed, Cofield could miss time

What exactly was Reed trying to do in the play he got hurt? There literally was nothing to gain on the play. How come Skins players don't know don't know how to pick their battles?

I have never seen a guy have as many big plays that result in a fumble as Paul. He can't be trusted as a TE.

If there is something fighting for then go ahead....Alfred Morris fights for extra yards, RG3 has no business fighting for extra yards....I look at that Reed play and it was going nowhere.

If fighting for extra yards means losing a guy for 4 weeks then you don't want players fighting for that. Swallow it and move on.

saden1 09-09-2014 11:56 AM

Re: Reed, Cofield could miss time

This is NOT fighting for extra yards....its a dumb play...9 out of 10 times you will get yourself hurt.

Easy for us to say especially in hindsight, out on the field you don't have the luxury of weighing pros and cons in the moment.

He was trying to avoid the tackle, sucks that he got hurt but it happens.

Re: Reed, Cofield could miss time

Well, they better teach him better techniques. He better learn to use stiff arms and spin moves if he wants to last long in this league.

jamf 09-09-2014 12:12 PM

Re: Reed, Cofield could miss time

We don't need guys playing to not get hurt except maybe a QB. everyone else on the team needs to ball and fight for every inch they can get.
Reed is the kind of guy that would get injured in a flag football game.

MTK 09-09-2014 12:17 PM

Reed, Cofield could miss time

If the 2nd guy didn't come in to clean him up he would have avoided the first tackle and gained some more yards. The 2nd guy hit him when his leg was planted which caused the injury. Shit happens.

Shit is more likely to happen and it seems Reed is its happening target.

Reed sadly seems to be made of glass. He could pull a hammy sneezing. I don't think changing technique will save him.

If that's the case then why in gods name do we not have an insurance policy in place?

You can still get to where you want to go and avoid getting into a car wreck by driving smarter. Like RG3 I think Reed needs to adjust his attitude and play smarter. This is not High School or College football! Everyone is as big and as fast and they will wreck you ass.

Goddamn it! Why don't we have pro bowl back-ups for all our key players!

Well, I guess this is the end of Cofield's Iron Man streak. 81 straight games started... easily the most among the league's defensive tackles.

I think I heard yesterday we were going to work out some tight ends some time this week? Paul and Paulsen definitely aren't enough there. Too bad Bolser isn't ready to be brought up.
